Appalling Experience at Seasonal Tastes, Westin Gurgaon – A Shameful Disgrace to the Marriott Name
I visited Seasonal Tastes at The Westin Gurgaon late last night with friends, expecting the premium 5-star experience that one would assume comes from a flagship restaurant of the globally renowned Marriott Group. Instead, we endured one of the worst dining experiences imaginable – something that would be unacceptable even at a roadside eatery, let alone a luxury hotel.
We began with a club sandwich that was soggy, cold, and absolutely inedible. The bacon was rotten, rubbery, and impossible to chew — a serious health concern. Following that, the nihari arrived cold and bland, completely lacking any flavour, as if it had been sitting around for hours. Alongside it, we ordered paranthas and rotis, and immediately asked for butter. Despite repeating the request five times, the butter never came. The staff was completely indifferent.
The final straw was the biryani, served with raita that had a long human hair visibly sitting on top. We pointed it out to the server, Mukul Gautam, who took it away without even an apology, replacement, or acknowledgement. No courtesy. No responsibility. No standards.
To make matters worse, they brought us the bill for food we barely touched, and when we demanded to speak to someone in charge, we were told no senior was available — again, at a so-called 5-star hotel. After pressing further, a lady from the front desk appeared and casually offered a 20% discount as if that would make up for the unhygienic and unacceptable conditions. Later, Karan Singh, another senior, joined and said he could either give a 20% discount or remove a dish from the bill. Is that really what The Westin and Marriott have come to?
We made it very clear: we were not looking for discounts. We came expecting a world-class experience. We paid the full bill not because the food was worth it — it wasn’t — but to make a statement. This wasn’t about money; it was about how a prestigious brand completely failed on every front: food quality, hygiene, service, and accountability.
I’ve been a regular at Westin Gurgaon with over 100 visits, but this incident was so shocking, it has completely eroded my trust. There was zero ownership, no apology, no effort to rectify anything. Absolutely disgraceful.
This review is not just a warning to potential guests — it is a wake-up call to the Marriott Group. If this is the level of service and hygiene at your flagship properties, you are playing with people’s health and trust.
Shame on Westin Gurgaon. You’ve lost a loyal...
Read moreDecember at the Westin means Christmas decorations have started to be displayed, which is a delight living far away from North American holiday over-enthusiasm. While our family had grown somewhat tired of the Sunday Brunch options after visiting too frequently (and longing for the fresh seafood barbeque event once it had passed), Seasonal Tastes for breakfast has an excellent selection of Western and Indian options, at a much more reasonable price. The variety of seasonal salads, fresh fruit (highlights yesterday were persimmons, fresh pineapple and really sweet and fresh strawberries), variety of cheeses, smoked salmon (a family favourite) as well as standard hotel breakfast fare (eggs to order, fresh chicken and pork sausages, fresh juices, fresh made pancakes and muffins, and dosas with a WIDE variety of chutneys I'm still working my way through) mean more options than we could possibly eat, when we start our day (so our whole Sunday doesn't get swallowed up) and a much smaller crowd of people so that dining is more relaxed and enjoyable overall. The Westin remains a faithful standby for us, but breakfast is quickly becoming my favourite meal of the day there.
Two challenges I would like to see addressed (and a minor note): my son LOVES cereal for breakfast, especially the chocoflakes because we don't keep them at home, but the cereal display was very awkward and too high for a child to serve themselves - at the very least the child-favourite chocoflakes should have been on the lower level and preferably, cereal would be set up so kids can take care of themselves without parental assistance (it leaves them feeling confident and independent and means parents can get their own meals at the same time). the air quality, especially PM 2.5 levels, were really high, as high as if we were outside. While we will be eating, and cooking fumes contribute, I wish more hotels and restaurants and public spaces would think about ways they can provide cleaner air to customers when conditions in the NCR in winter are apocalyptically hazardous.
I loved the fresh juice dispensers and the quality of the fresh juice was wonderful, but I had to laugh that the chalk displays were ignored (they always look super cool when used and classier than little label cards)
Always love a weekend visit to the Westin, and hope we can continue to enjoy (just look at that pancake smile! Thank you...
Read moreAwesome Food and Atmosphere! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 But very very poor and unprofessional on service 🙋
Recently visited here to share some good times with family for dinner over A la carte menu.
Food and atmosphere was awesome as always in Westin!! The vibe and ambience of this place calls me again and again 🏄♂️🏄♂️
But unfortunately service was disappointing - reached at 10:30 pm - there was winding up going on since the restaurant’s main menu closes at 11 and there was rush of staff all around🏃♂️🕴️
The staff seem really not interested in entertaining new guest and reluctantly asked for pre-reservation- apparently just to avoid.
Very uninterestingly the staff served the order 🌮🌯🌭🍛- but everything very late from order time and strangely had to wait for 15 minutes even for next round of bread/chapatis 🕑🕑 Even bill took 15 minutes as the staff was busy in computer winding up for the day despite a hurry call by me since by then it was late night.
Tried to pay bill 💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💸💸💸💵from a payment app to access some offers - but by just seeing that 😳 instead of helping out with the app, the Staff gave a very cold look since i intended to use my Zomato Gold - i think i shd have never tried zomato gold 🤷♂️🤦♂️😛!!! god forbid !!
And also to one Mr Rohit Sir there - we are your guest -paying to spend some happy times with family - plz not be unwelcoming even if you have to wind up 🙏
BTW the mint sauce served with dahi kabab was awesome 👌👌👌👌👌also can’t forget ur complimentary delicious papads 🤭🤭
Management - plz i introduce some more indian main course - you have very very limited menu🥱🥱
All and all - a must visit Place - but just don’t goof up and don’t reach near the time of winding up/change of shift 🥶🥶🥶- and do make a reservation through apps - else you will be asked 10000 times to show your reservation 😊😛🤷♂️🙋🤦♂️😛
Try it if you are in Gurugram - just for the awesome feel of...
