Went to Swagath after years recently and we can tell you that this was nothing short of nostalgia for us.
The iconic Indian food served with wholesome smiles with portion sizes that reminds us why we often visited this place with our entire family.
They have North Indian, the classic South Indian and indie Chinese that we grew up eating. Here’s what we got ourselves for lunch -
Jeera paani - sweet yet chatpata with boondi, the perfect and most refreshing summer drink that’s ever made.
Paneer tikka - well marinated, well spiced paneer chunks with charred capsicum and onion, it cannot get better than this.
Chicken sampler - an assortment of lehsuni chicken tikka, malai tikka and nawabi chicken tikka.
Butter chicken - a little on the sweeter side, the way OG Delhiites remember eating it. Absolutely wholesome when paired with garlic naan.
Dal makhani - the creamiest, most indulgent version we’ve had in a while. Loved it with our laccha parantha.
Ended it on the sweetest note with the sizzling brownie with a generous portion of chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream!
It is still in the game, some of these original outlets can still out do the new ones. They aren’t dated, they are evolving and that’s what we like about them. If you haven’t checked this place out lately, then this is your...
Read moreCame here after trying paneer makhani in the Defence Colony, Delhi branch in 2020, which I consider one of the best versions of the dish I’ve ever tasted.
Of course I had to get the exact dish again here, and it did not disappoint. I immediately realised why I loved it so much all those years ago. I don’t think I’ve tasted creamier and more buttery makhani in my life. The garlic naan was subjected to heavenly pleasure. I would unofficially award Swagath Restobar the gold prize in the competition of Paneer Makhani in India.
I also got the Swagath Special Surmai based on the description that it would be like the Mangalorean dish Pullimunchi, a tangy fish curry, but I was disappointed that the dish came out as a dry prep with a truckload of spices that tasted almost Chinese than anything similar to the pullimunchi I enjoyed in another restaurant. But the fish was still cooked well and I managed to eat past the heat.
As a South Indian I can assure you the appam served here is extremely tasteless. That was my one complaint
Ended all of it with Kulfi which again was on point.
Service was great throughout to explain the dishes and serve the food, Mr. Ali is very good.
Will come back every time just...

A special mention to Chef Sonu Singh, whose dishes were exceptional in both taste and presentation — every item had that perfect balance of authentic flavor and finesse. The seafood, in particular, was cooked to perfection and reflected real mastery in the kitchen.
Restaurant Manager Ali ensured everything ran seamlessly. His attentiveness, calm handling of details, and genuine concern for every guest’s comfort made the experience feel personalized and memorable.
