I came across this restaurant through instagram ads, probably because of my love for Japanese food. Seeing the gorgeous spacious interiors with that big tree, I was definitely intrigued to try this place but unfortunately that's where it all went downhill. Now don't get me wrong, I know and LOVE Japanese food, especially Kuuraku so my expectations were high. I've never been catfished but this was an unexpected first, that too by a restaurant! The place is WAAAAY smaller than it looks in its photos. It is nice but just smaller. Now that we have the ambience out of the way, let's get to the review of the food of this place that's literally hanging by a thread, in the name of their asparagus tempura sushi. We ordered a few different sushis, which were decent, the best of course being the aforementioned asparagus tempura sushi (and yes I'm a non-vegetarian). The chicken Gyoza was average at best. The service was slow. But we decided to order the Teriyaki Chicken nd Tepenyaki Veggies along with some tofu fried rice. The teriyaki chicken is probably the worst I've had. So dry and so basic, you could almost see it ordering a pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks! I mean the teriyaki sause was below negligible. And the fried rice was more like regular rice with corn (why even put corn) and tofu. The only saving grace were the mushrooms which had a nice chili garlic oil to it which made it moderately palatable.
Overall, I was thoroughly disappointed by this restaurant and definitely would not visit again. If you want good Japanese in Gurgaon, Kuuraku is where you need to go. That place is a...
Read moreThe ambience is amazing, however that's where it starts and ends, unfortunately. We had made reservations, very spefically mentioned it was date night. They did have us seated on one of their best tables, that was great. The service really, really needs attention to detail, staff needs to understand the menu, make recommendations etc. All this was missing. The Sashimi - terrible, looking at it, there were different textures and we had to send it back. The shrimp tempura had a stench of deep fried reused oil, we couldn't eat it. When we brought this to their attention, we were told it's really how sea food smells 😮. Which makes no sense. The manager was terribly rude, when we wanted to go to the bathroom he really used his body to stop us, particularly being also loud, to direct us, (which is outside the restaurant)The way this was communicated, was very astonishing & not very well received. There's a way to conduct oneself and respect your guests. We didn't eat at all and had to leave. Sighhh. They also do have tepanyakki however is listed on the menu, but is in fact a sizzler. Not sure why it says tepanyakki. I don't recommend this...
Read moreTakashi Gurgaon a newly opened Japanese restaurant in Gurgaon by Henry Wang It was a Japanese Tasting table by Plates2Miles and it was one of the best ever. Food was totally out of the world so were the cocktails. Each and every item served was fresh and flavoursome. The hospitality and service standards were impeccable. To be very honest, though I've eaten at many Asian and Japanese restaurants in India and abroad but there were so many items that I tasted today, I tasted for the first time. What I loved the most was the Kakumi pork, Mushroom rice, Pork Gyoza, Sushi Sashimi and Mochi ice cream. Overall, an amazing, peaceful and chilled out place to visit for a quiet meal and I would definitely recommend this place if you love Japanese food or even if you want to try that for...
