Being a north indian, food from the region always holds a revered place in my heart. There are choices at every street corner for the top picks like chole bhature, aaloo tikki, chaat etc, and extremely yummy ones at that, but when it comes to serving traditional street food in comfortable, hygienic way, with extremely high yum taste factor, few can match Gopal's. Primarily based in cities of punjab, I always ensure that I keep a 2 hour slot reserved for a meal at Gopal, every single time I visit Chandigarh, even if I am there only for 1 day trip!! Their top dish is undoubtedly chole bhature! It's actually a work of culinary. Every plate of bhature is ALWAYS served fully puffed up, with such amazing consistency. It's served with a side of amazing chole, crunchy mix of onions and pickle, and an out of this world dry alu sabzi with magical mix of spices. It's the bhature though which elevate the dish to heavenly state, with an impossible lightness to it, that makes you wonder...How can fried maida be so light on stomach!! Whatever they do to make it happen, god bless them to do it for years to come. Other than the classic, ,the whole menu has all essentials for indian palate...Chinese, italian, pizzas, mini meals, thalis, and classic desserts. Infact the 2 level stores not only have restaurant, but the other level is fully dedicated to massive selection of mithais, namkeens, cookies and confectionery, cakes, dry fruits and gift packs. Customer Experience** Overall experience of mine in terms of assistance and customer service it was very poor they are barely interested who is waiting on the counter and the cashier is also not know what all product is available currently. Manager is missing too on the floor and all the management on the floor is very pathetic.

Have been going there for Cholle Bhature regularly. I like the Cholle Bhature here. Disclaimer - Taste is subjective and varies according to the palate.

The preparation is hygienic. The portion size is considerable and the size of one bhatura is substantial.

One plate of cholle bhature will contain (not compulsorily all) Two bhature Chickpea (Cholle) curry Masaledar Potato sabzi Masaledar Green Chillies (Mirchi) Onion salad Seasonal pickles like carrot and chilly in vinegar (optional) Pickle, you can get this from the counter (optional)

The quantity of cholle is a bit less. Considering the size of bhature, the cholle offered is not so much. Everything tastes decent. If you want a kick of spice, the masaledar mirchi just makes it savoury.

While there are other outlets in the city for cholle bhature, Gopal’s is one of the better ones.
