On our walk on the heritage walk 1 and of course after walking so much from Peteroff to Mall Road, Alfa was immensely satisfying.
Ambience:
It was early evening and Alfa was all lit up bright on the outside and also inside. There are two sections and one can choose to sit on the outside or the inside part of the restaurant. The place is quaint and reminds you of the great architecture in the region around.
Staff:
The most decent and humble staff is guaranteed here. They keep around to see if you are in need of something. Adjusts the servings. Suggests good options if one is confused (guilty as charged). Waits for slow order givers like myself 🤣 and have all the patience in the world to even click your pictures with a bright smile on their face. So yeah wonderful staff😍
Food:
We had ordered cream chicken soup and hot and sour soup (which was suggested by the staff present) and it was yum!
In the main course we had ordered Paneer Pasanda and Dal Makhni with breads namely Tandoori Roti and Butter Naan.
The food tasted heavenly. I would like to make special mention to the Butter Naan. It was actually buttery and it had layers drenched in butter 😍 I had not eaten such Butter Naan before. It was beyond my expectations.
I simply loved the restaurant and would visit it now forth whenever I plan to visit Mall Road. And I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to indulge in good quality food and service✌️ Kudos to the...
Read moreThe Alfa is in a prime location on the Mall Road. The spaciousness inside isn't obvious at first glance from outside. Like many establishments on the Mall, the facade and entrance is narrow. The space inside extends to the other side of the building. It can be roughly divided into three parts. The main dining area, all wood and warm light and spacious by Shimla standards. A smaller segregated area at the far end with seating on sofas and two round tables with chairs beside two windows. It's good for secluded, quiet dining. My favourite is the small space beside the glass facade at the entrance with fine views of the hapoening Mall Road. It's absolutely great for people-watching. The food is another matter though. Pricey, perhaps because of the location and its notoriously high rentals, it is run-of-the-mill. I ordered a grilled vegetable sandwich and a jaljeera. The latter was good. The sandwich, a white-bread thing was mainly mayonnaise with some finely chopped onions and tomatoes. No greens, no corn. Quite unlike what I expected. A nice thing about Alfa is that it has a robust local clientele, so its a good place to dine with and...
Read moreI visited this restaurant called Alfa when I was in Shimla, and let me tell you, it was a great experience. I ordered three dishes, but the star of the show was the Murg Mussalam. The chicken was packed with flavor – it was like an explosion of taste in every bite. Seriously, it was bursting with deliciousness.
Now, let's talk about the Missi Roti and Naan – they were spot on. But what really impressed me was the quantity. They didn't skimp on portions, and I left the place feeling completely satisfied. Plus, they went the extra mile by warming the plates before serving, which was a nice touch.
At the end of the meal, they provided bowls for washing hands, and the water was warm. They even added a slice of lemon to it. It's these little things that make a dining experience memorable. All in all, if you're in Shimla and looking for a good meal, Alfa is definitely worth...
