The one place near home serving good kerala food consistently over the years is Akson Kerala Restaurant. I know of this ground floor place since the time they had this basic facility on the opposite side of the road across the current location. It was much smaller place serving two types of vegetarian meals for lunch. one with the boiled rice familiar to malayalees and the other with cooked raw rice thali. Over the years they also renovated the same before they moved into this larger and swanky place on the first floor above manyavaar. The approach is a long steel staircase with limited landing space at the entrance door to the restaurant. once you manage this challenge, the space is warm and decent. There are 6 seater and 4 seater configuration tables. It is only during onam we reach this place for relishing onam sadya. Priced at INR 350++ per meal, which is provided in unlimited quantity serving. The banana leaf or the plantain leaf is long enough to accomodate almost three rows of dishes. All the fruits and vegetables used are part of the harvest festival marking the festival in kerala. The owners procure most of it and prepare this lavish spread to partake of. I like. the fact they gave us boiled rice as it is a traditionally had and the crisps too were mostly regional items from the state of kerala. All the items shown in video and images describe what was given . The taste was authentic and food was fresh and delicious. It was not hot that is because the place was full and crowded. We enjoyed the onam sadya and had a hearty meal. We thank the management and the staff of Akson for arranging a lovely festive feast and making it a meal to remember. Onam wishes to...
Read moreAkson – Authentic Kerala Flavors That ImpressDining at Akson, a Kerala-style restaurant, was a delightful experience that beautifully captured the essence of coastal cuisine. The moment we stepped in, the cool and cozy ambiance set a relaxing tone. The interior, with its subtle traditional touches and soothing lighting, created a perfect space to enjoy a hearty meal without any rush. For lunch, I opted for the vegetarian meal, while my friend ordered the Malabar biryani accompanied by a crispy fish fry. Every dish at Akson reflected a commitment to freshness and authenticity. My veg meal was perfectly balanced—fluffy rice served with an array of flavorful curries, tangy sambar, and mild yet aromatic coconut-based sides that truly awakened the palate. The biryani, on the other hand, was an absolute showstopper—rich in flavor with fragrant rice and tender pieces of meat that melted effortlessly. The fish fry complemented it perfectly, golden-brown on the outside and juicy within, seasoned just right with Kerala spices. The portion sizes were generous but not overwhelming—enough to satisfy without waste. The staff deserve a special mention. They were well-mannered, attentive, and quick to respond to every request, ensuring that our dining experience remained smooth from start to finish. Despite the weekend rush, service was prompt, and every dish arrived fresh and warm.Overall, Akson delivers exactly what it promises—flavorful food rooted in tradition, courteous service, and an inviting atmosphere. It’s a place that welcomes both locals and food lovers looking to explore authentic Kerala cuisine. Whether you crave a hearty veg meal or a spicy Malabar feast, Akson is well...
Read moreHola people welcome back with an other review at Akson restaurant. If your are craving for good Malabar cuisne n tasty fish fry, crazy Kerala food Akson restaurant is the place. Akson restaurant is located in the busy roads of Panjagutta which can be easily recognisable from the streets. The ambience is pretty good with a good view of busy roads present of large windows on the right side entrance of the restaurant. The staff was humble and friendly. We had ordered prawns biryani, puttu and a chocolate milkshake. Puttu is a kind of rice cake which is cylindrical in shape with grated coconut in between. The puttu was amazing had it after a long time. The correct combination for it is kalda curry(chole curry). Prawns biryani was also different from the regular Hyderabadi style biryani it was not dum style and it was crctly blended with right amount of spicness and even the prawns were good. But here is a twist you don't get a mirchi ka salan with biryani you get an pickle and raitha along with the biryani which bit seems shocked to normal people. Chocolate milkshake was also good. This restaurant has an history of about 60 yrs and will return back to try more dishes especially crab curry and fish fry and Sharjah shake which is Kerala famous. Well this is my review regarding Akson restaurant. See you people back with an other food review until then have a good tym and keep burping choww
