This place 'Harsha Delux Mess' was highly recommended by foodie friends and so we went there to dine-in . We cannot rate the place right, if we order take away. The experience is lost, so we think. Going by car is a nightmare, there is no parking anywhere in the vicinity. The driver just disappeared into some bylanes much ahead to park the vehicle. The two shutter mulgi was crowded, we wondered if we would get to eat immediately. In close sight, it appeared they were waiting to collect parcels, most of whom had the swiggy/zomato labelled on them. I Quickly purchased the meal coupons for two at the cash counter placed outside. Upon entering the space which appeared like a room with tables. and chairs, typical of a 'mess'. We were pointed to two chairs that were empty on a four seat occupied table. Each table has a set of four pronged vessels which hold different dal and curries, apart from that a bucket o sambar and rasam each. small steel containers had red chilli based powder, two pickles -one vegetable based and one fruit based. typical andhra cuisine fare, small bowl of ghee too to help ourselves. rice is served by the waiter and so was the deep fried crisp- pappad and ofcourse the thick yoghurt what we locally call as Curd. It is an unlimited meal which means one can eat to their full content which is the best part of this place and the likes of them. For INR 110 per meal, it appeared to be value for money. What did not work for me is the cleanliness and or not sanitising the tables and chairs after each set of guests. The service is quick but can improve in terms of neatness. The taste of food is not bad, but did not tickle the taste buds. The 'sambar' and 'rasam' were disappointing. With the ambience and the food did not live up to the hype for a vegetarian like me. I would not go back nor would I order anytime soon. Will have to check with my friend who picked up non vegetarian dishes as a takeaway to update her view on those items for other readers here who may want to try HDM side offerings, Am told it is very popular to order on the side along with the meal. The business is brisk and...
Read moreIt's a good place to eat meals once in a while, though there may be regulars to this place. The food is good, tasty and sumptuous. But if they reduce usage of garlic and make a separation for non vegetarian eaters, it will be nice. Because pure veggie guys generally don't like to get the smell of non-veg foods. Of course, the hotel management has to provide that facility to secure their customers. Otherwise parcel meals is better, though we don't get some powders like that in parcel. But on the whole, this hotel is comfortably able to quench the hunger of hundreds of people everyday Afternoon and night. We should appreciate the management for their continuous efforts to do this. I wish they grow still bigger and bigger and provide good food at reasonable costs to the public. I suggest the management to offer the food to God before they start selling to public. Then it becomes prasadam. This is as told in Bhagawad Gita 3.13. We must follow Bhagawad Gita for our own welfare and for building a good society. Today, so many foreign countries are following Bhagawad Gita and prospering better. Even in the book "Seven habits of highly effective people", the author says that he took all the guidance from Bhagawad Gita book only , mainly. So, I hope the hotel management will take this suggestion (of offering the food to Lord Srikrishna first) into consideration on priority. Then that food becomes prasadam and it yields best results to the hotel owners and the public who eat it. All the best. God...
Read moreI ate biryani at this establishment, I am only going to review that.
I must assert that it is the worst biryani I have ever had in my life. I do not make this claim lightly; I am an avid biryani enthusiast who has sampled dishes from numerous modest eateries. Allow me to explain the issues with this particular biryani.
It is not a genuine Hyderabadi biryani; rather, it seems to be a reinterpretation of Andhra pulao in a Hyderabadi style. The distinctive flavor of Hyderabadi biryani typically derives from the marinade. For instance, Bawarchi Hotel emphasizes the onion, Alpha Hotel accentuates the lime, and in some biryanis, mint takes center stage. The core ingredients of the marinade typically comprise onion, mint, or lime, complemented by an array of spices. However, when you dine at this establishment, you encounter an overwhelming presence of garam masala, which overshadows the nuanced umami that characterizes every authentic Hyderabadi biryani. The rice is notably devoid of flavor, and the biryani, while skillfully prepared and featuring tender chicken, ultimately falls short in...
