Okay I hesitated to write this, when I had sushi there, it was my first experience, and it'll be my last experience. Because it was absolutely traumatic.
Recently I've read a few articles on how a good sushi is supposed to taste like. It is stated in many sources, it's NOT supposed to taste fishy, or give off the fishy odor. It's supposed to be tangy because of the vinegar and the salted sticky rice.
When I tasted the sushi, I'm afraid to say the raw salmon, tuna, has a slight fishy odor and aftertaste. It was supposed to be brushed with vinegar or soy but it was completely bland with such an aquatic taste and the rice was bland, I couldn't detect salt or vinegar my own poor eyes was tearing hoping to flavor it with my salty tears, it almost gave me a stroke because I thought I got COVID because I couldn't taste anything so I kept swallowing bits of wasabi to keep my sanity and to die a little from the spiciness. The Sashimi is the same as well, the odd fishy taste from the prawns and crabs, I was expecting atleast a little bit of sourness from the meat either from the vinegar or soy or its blood but it didn't have any of it.
But there are people who like this flavor, when I shared this experience with people because after eating from here I believed that all sushi tastes the same, but I was thankfully wrong and there are people who enjoy this fishy taste, and unfortunately I'm not one of those people, it made me gag with those sensations as I was eating raw seafood I could almost hear the fish scream for someone to delete it's browsing history in my mouth.
After getting out of there, our stomachs had a lot of space that I wanted to shove all spicy Indian food to wash off the taste that I was ready to drink from the local tank water lorry pipe to convince myself I'm still alive and I'm still in India, but for some scary reason when I tasted hotdogs, and Frankies and schwarma, I keep hallucinating that I'm eating fishy tuna with no flavor. It's not letting go of me and not leaving me like some romantic SRK Bollywood train running scene. Everywhere I go I see Salmon's face and not Tony Stark, Ikea made me lost in the food area surrounded by smoked Salmons forcing me to buy them. I am seriously traumatized, that I see it everywhere.
Maybe the chefs are Indian otakus, and not Japanese. Cuz if it was a Japanese chef it might've been better, I'm joking I didn't mean to offend the chefs. But seriously teach some basic Japanese to the servers. We tried saying "Domou/Arigatou/Oishii/Umaii/Kochisou sama" etc and they made a face like as if we insulted their family, their pet, their future spouse, their salary payslip, and their anime waifu's fictional existence. We gave the translation directly to them cuz repeating the sentence with obvious indications and actions didn't get their brains ticking and we decided never to speak Japanese again to preserve our fragile dignity.
And I am seriously confused on this thing... No ramen? No Tsukemen? No...
Read moreWent here today with a big gang. Sat outside. Ambience was good, low lights, superhit pop music and gentle breeze. And then it started to drizzle which made the ambience even better by splatter sound on the plastic roof and cooler breeze. But as the precipitation increased, water started coming from the sides and holes in the plastic roof. Asked to be shifted inside, but table was not available, so we had dinner under dripping roof and water flowing on the floor.
All orders came within 15 min except Massaman curry, which took 40 min to arrive. Appetizers like crispy paneer, crunchy water-chestnut and lotus stem were good but all had the same tangy tamarind sauce. Paneer did not feel fresh though.
I asked for help about what could be eaten with what, but employees also did not have any idea. We blindly ordered some sushis, dimsums, rice-curry, noodles and mocktails. Luckily, everything suited our palate and we returned happily...
Read moreHashi is one of the few restaurants in Hyderabad which serves some amazing and very authentic pan-Asian cuisine.
The service is some of the best I've ever experienced! The waiters are extremely kind, patient and helping. We wanted to order a 1/2 soup and we didn't know how to do it on the online order platform, but the waiter guided us through the process and even relayed our preferences to the chefs.
The food is incredibly good. It's safe to say that Hashi arguably makes the best sushi in all of Hyderabad, and it's the best dish on their menu. We had a mixed variety of sushi with crab and fish, and we finished it all in seconds. Each sushi dish comes with wasabi paste, pickled ginger and a bowl of dipping soy sauce. Other items we tried include tempura shrimp, Tom Kha, Miso soup (would highly recommend both the soups), mushroom stir fry and...
