.KEBABZADEH has been making a lot of noise, all for the right reasons since Day 1. Some unheard names on the menu and idiosyncratic presentation of kebabs has made them grist of the gossip mill, also known as social media!
Unlike our Desi kebabs wherein meat is heavily marinated,, middle eastern kebabs are minimally spiced keeping the meat flavour and the fat aroma alive. But we call it bland! Therefore Kebabzadeh tries to peddle in tandem with the authenticity and nativity. The recipe and the making style is authentic, but then it's spiced up a little to meet the Desi palate!
Mutton Bibigul Kebab: A spherical minced mutton kebab or kofta as we call it, was one of my top picks from the table. What sets it apart from other kebabs is the use of red bell pepper and yellow bell pepper paste as the spicing agent, giving a distinct flavour.
Adana Kebab: The most popular invention of the Turkish grill. Minced meat again, marinated with just 4-5 ingredients and grilled in flattened skewers, this is another gem on the menu.
Doner Kebab: They claim, in Hyderabad, a deconstructed Shawarma is served in the name of Doner. Unlike Shawarma, wherein meat slices are stacked up, Doner meat is a single lump of seasoned meat, which is grilled on the rotisserie and shaved in thin slices. Doner kebab at Kebabzadeh tasted similar to Champli kebab as the coriander flavour was dominating.
Apart from this they have some excellent Chicken kebabs like Turkish Shish and Shinwari boti.
The Bazmani rice is one of the most aromatic rice preparations I've eaten! The use of raisins and caramelized onions gives it a sweetish taste and the ghee aroma elevates the whole thing!
They've also added Kofta Biryani to the menu for those Desis (like me) who feel a spice void after feasting on arabian food! And I must say it's an amazing Biryani! Home style Biryani with aroma of fresh herbs....

Kebabzadeh is one such hidden gem, tucked in the bylanes of Tolichowki Salar Jung Colony, which specializes in Peshawar-style cooking techniques. Recently, we dropped by to try out some of their niche offerings, starting with Turkish Shadaba, Chicken Tikka & Lahori Seekh Kebab which was served with Fries, Chutney Salad, all of the kebabs were perfectly done in terms of marination with North Indian spices, having a subtle taste profile, which is best suited for all. Next up, we had Isfahan Kebab, wherein we opted for the Mutton variant, a single thin sheet of tender minced mutton, marinated with black pepper & other spices, served with Bazmani rice, fries & Salad, one hefty pick for meat lovers as it's rich in Protein at the same time very lite to your palate as well. lastly, we tried out their Mutton Haleem, the ratio of meat to wheat was really great and not spicy at all, something which can be...
Read moreTucked away in the bylanes of Tolichowki, the place serves specialty kebabs which are a formulated recipe by the chef and owner - each of which turns out beautiful for the local palate. From meaty kebabs to cheesy stuffed naans and rice, the place has everything to make it a complete meal, and that too at a reasonable price. After multiple visits I've doing that the place is a little inconsistent which they can probably work upon. My usual favourites here include
1.) Turkish Adana Kebab - A super soft mince meat seekh blended with pine nuts and bell peppers, this one is wonderfully seasoned always and makes a complete meal with some breads and fries
2.) Lebanese Meatballs - One of the classics here, this one is a juicy meatball loaded with chunks of garlic. Have it with their garlic sauce
3.) Bazmani Rice - Buttery rice made just right to go well with kebabs. Doesn't feel dry at all and the portion too comes sufficient for the price
4.) French Fries - Their thick cut french fries are actually one of my favourites and that sprinkling of their special masala is what makes it amazing. Do ask for it, they tend to skimp on the masala many times
They also do the authentic Turkish doner kebab too but on my last visit didn't find them available on the menu. Do call and check if you visit...
