I recently visited Pista House in Tolichowki and had a mixed experience. I ordered Marag, Rumali Roti, Butter Naan, and the Chicken Platter

The Chicken Platter was the highlight — generous in portion and good in quality. The meat was well-marinated and cooked just right. Definitely worth it.
But things went downhill with the Marag. The quantity was really disappointing — barely a small bowl — and to top it off, I found a hair in it. They replaced it without much fuss, but shockingly, the replacement also had a small piece of hair. It was a major turnoff and left me quite disappointed.
Service was okay-ish — not too bad, but not great either. Could definitely be more attentive. The ambience also didn’t feel worth it — a bit dull and not the kind of vibe you’d expect at a place that’s usually hyped.
Pista House has built a strong reputation over the years for its quality and signature dishes. Unfortunately, the Tolichowki branch falls short of that standard. The hygiene levels are noticeably lacking, and the ambience doesn’t live up to the expectations set by the brand. Even the taste, which is usually the saving grace, was underwhelming. For a place with such a strong name, this outlet feels like a letdown. Hopefully, they work on improving the experience to match what Pista House is truly known for.

Read moreI’ve ordered biryani from Pista House several times through Swiggy/Zomato, but I was often disappointed with the taste and overall experience. It could be that I chose the wrong branch. However, during a recent visit to the Toli Chowki branch, I had a much better experience. Here’s what I ordered:
Special Marag (1/2): The marag came with 4 pieces, and the quantity was enough for two light eaters. The taste was decent, but some improvements are needed. If you order a full biryani, you’ll get extra rice and additional pieces.
Zaffrani Kabab: This was an excellent dish! The kababs were tender and coated in butter, making them smooth and flavorful. Since the butter reduces the spiciness, it’s perfect for those who prefer light masala. Every bite was tender, and it comes with 4 pieces, enough for two people.
Zaffrani Mutton Biryani (Half): I didn’t expect the biryani to be this good—it was superb. The medium spice level and buttery texture made it very enjoyable.
The above order was sufficient for two moderate eaters.
Other Facilities: On the ground floor, there’s a dedicated Irani chai and biscuit counter (standing only). The Irani chai here is better than many others in Hyderabad. Additionally, there’s a bakery offering Pista House-made biscuits and confectionery, with a separate seating area for bakery customers.

Upon ordering the biryani, my excitement for a delicious meal quickly turned into disappointment when I discovered a hair in the dish. I brought this to the attention of the butler, expecting a prompt and professional resolution. However, the response I received was far from satisfactory.
The butler's immediate assumption that I merely wanted a discount rather than a genuine concern for the hygiene of the food was disheartening. Instead of investigating the matter or offering a sincere apology, he defended the situation by stating that I had already consumed a significant portion of the meal.
Hygiene is a fundamental aspect of any dining experience, and discovering foreign objects in the food is not only unappetizing but also a serious concern for customer well-being. A restaurant's response to such incidents speaks volumes about its commitment to customer satisfaction and food safety.
I expected a more understanding and professional approach from the staff, and unfortunately, this experience has left a lasting negative impression. I hope they take this feedback seriously and address the need for improved hygiene protocols and better customer service.
