Mainland China
Recently went to Mainland China Hitech City to try their Ten Course Lunch Set. The Lunch set offers both veg and non veg options. The service and hospitality was pretty quick and amazing. It was a pretty hot and sunny day, as soon as we entered the place the staff immediately got the cold and refreshing towels (not sure if it is a regular welcome or was it just due to the unusually hot weather).
This set menu includes Soup, Dimsums and Appetizer for the initials. Main Course includes two veg/non veg gravy + one veg stir fry served with veg soft noodles and fried rice. The dessert section is quite amazing, it includes three type of desserts. Here are my personal views on what I ordered:
Tom Yum Chicken Soup - The Soups was really delicious, specially loved the straw mushrooms in the soup. I felt the soup was slightly sweet which I personally don’t prefer much. Chicken and Straw Mushroom Sit Mai (Dimsums)- This was my personal favourite in the whole menu, the dimsums were really soft on the outer and super stuffed with absolutely delicious and flavourful chicken and mushroom filling. I wish I could order another set just for the dimsums. Teriyaki Chicken- The chicken was tender and juicy, however the the coating and the sauce was extremely sweet to handle. Main Course Fish in Roasted Garlic Sauce - Totally loved the garlic sauce as well as the boneless fish. Loved the fact that fish was very soft and flavourful. General Tao’s Chicken - It was also perfect for the rice or the noodles. Burnt Garlic Vegetable Fried Rice - I loved the rice. Wok Tossed Veg Hakka Noodles- This was soft noodles and were little sticky but super delicious. Desserts: Honey Noodles - This was something that I tried for the first time, these were the thick noodles (not sure if I could call it noodles) glazed with honey. It tasted really amazing slightly similar to rose cookies but a bit more sweet. The quantity was too much to handle. Steamed Coconut Dumplings - Served two steamed dumpling filled with sweet dried grated coconut stuffing with honey butter sauce poured over it. I personally didn’t like the flavour of dry coconut, the fresh coconut woulld have made. He taste much better. Vanilla Ice Cream - If nothing works out this definitely does.
Overall - The Ambience is pretty common and regular. The The quantity of each food item is absolutely amazing. Considering the wide options being offered at a pricing of Rs. 745, it’s a must try “Chinese ten Course” experience, worth...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of indulging in the "Best of Mainland China" set lunch promotion at their Hitech city branch in Hyderabad. Let me begin by saying that this culinary journey was nothing short of extraordinary.
The gastronomic adventure kicked off with the tantalizing Chicken Tom Yum Soup, a flavorful concoction that left my taste buds dancing with delight. Next up were the Chicken and Straw Mushroom Stu Mai dimsums, expertly crafted and bursting with succulent flavors.
The Teriyaki Chicken appetizer paved the way for the main course, where the Fish in Roasted Garlic Sauce took center stage, impressing with its impeccable balance of tenderness and robustness. Accompanying it was the iconic General Tao's Chicken, a delightful symphony of sweet and tangy notes. The Stir Fried Chinese Greens added a refreshing touch, perfectly complementing the other mains. The Rice & Noodles section presented the delectable Burnt Garlic Vegetable Fried Rice, a fragrant delight, and the Work Tossed Vegetable Hakka Noodles, boasting a harmonious medley of textures and flavors.
No extraordinary meal is complete without a sweet ending, and Mainland China did not disappoint. The Honey Noodles were a revelation, offering a delightful crunch and a subtle hint of sweetness. The Steamed Coconut Dumplings with Honey Butter Sauce and accompanying Vanilla Ice cream elevated the dessert experience to heavenly heights.
All of this was served as part of a 10-course lunch, priced at an incredibly reasonable INR 745 + applicable taxes. To top it off, the option to enhance the experience with mocktails for just INR 99 extra was a delightful surprise.
In conclusion, the "Best of Mainland China" set lunch at their Hitech city outlet was an extraordinary gastronomic adventure. The diverse range of flavors, impeccable presentation, and pocket-friendly pricing make it a must-try for all food enthusiasts. With its exceptional culinary offerings, Mainland China has undoubtedly set the bar high for Chinese cuisine in...
Read moreThe franchise would have been visited by most of us who fathom the Chinese cuisine but the very fact that here also they mix match Chinese cuisine with Indian taste so as to draw crowds disappointed me. During a Sunday lunch, this place was packed to punch due to ongoing renovations. After a wait of 5 mins or so, we were guided to our table. The decor was good and the ambience was okayish. Nothing more than the regular restaurants in the city. We were server the starters on the table. The Chicken lollypops were really delicious and the momos were good too. The soup was little bland for my taste.
The main course disappointed me hugely for here the Indian preparation showed its true colours in Chinese cuisine. They had made all curries bright red so as to fool the diners. And the taste in most of the dishes went for a toss. The only saving dish was the noodles. Moving on to the desert, I wondered whether the Chinese cuisine did have so much amount of coconut in them. Most of the dessert was made of coconut scrapings.
Also while the bill came in, they had charged 70 rs for a bottle of water which is 20 bucks. Had a tiff with them after which they asked me to pay the original amount. Make sure to see the bill and ask for an explanation as to why they charge such amounts despite the government order.
