Disappointing Experience at Pakwaan Grand
I recently visited Pakwaan Grand for lunch with a friend, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the best experience. As a huge fan of their dum ki biryani, I was excited to try something different, so we ordered the chicken 65 biryani. To my disappointment, it turned out to be a poor choice.
The chicken 65 biryani was simply chicken 65 layered over plain biryani rice with no masala or flavor to speak of. It lacked the rich, flavorful spices that I’ve come to expect from biryani, and honestly, it was quite bland. The only noticeable flavor was an overwhelming amount of chili, which made the dish taste one-dimensional. I was hoping for something more flavorful and well-balanced, but the dish left me underwhelmed and disappointed. In hindsight, I should have stuck with my favorite dum ki biryani.
The atmosphere at Pakwaan Grand also left much to be desired. The dining area was filled with smoke, both from cigarettes and from the kitchen, making it really difficult to enjoy the meal. Even in the air-conditioned section, the air quality was poor, and it was quite uncomfortable to breathe. For a restaurant of this scale, I would have expected better ventilation or stricter rules about smoking, especially in indoor areas. This was a major downside to the experience, and it’s something the management really needs to work on.
On the plus side, the service staff was good. They were attentive and polite, which I appreciated. They did their best to ensure we were comfortable, despite the smoky atmosphere. The food arrived quickly, which is always a positive in a busy restaurant like this. However, good service alone can’t make up for poor food and an uncomfortable environment.
Parking is also something to note. While there is parking available, it’s a bit of a challenge as it’s not a designated lot, and you have to manage finding a spot on the main road. It’s not the worst situation, but it’s something to be aware of, especially if you’re visiting during peak hours when the area is more crowded.
Overall, my experience at Pakwaan Grand was a disappointment, mainly due to the lackluster food and the smoky environment. I’m hoping that this was just a one-off experience and that my next visit will be better, especially if I stick to the dishes I know and love. If you’re visiting, I’d recommend going for the dum ki biryani, which has never disappointed me in the past. Hopefully, they’ll improve the atmosphere and ensure that their other dishes live up to the standards of their...
Read moreWe had the worst experience with pakwan grand. The worst biriyani i ever had here and the staff's behavior was shocking. They misbehaved us... We went there bcz shahghouse nearer to it was closed. We had to wait as there were no availability of tables. Even after ordering food we have to wait a long time and the waiter was frequently coming to us to ask what's our order was even after we placed the order. Finally, after a long wait the starter was served. It was average and the chicken was not fresh. Then again a long wait for the main course. Finally, biriyani was served, the taste was very poor. It was not even worth to call it biriyani. My friends r done with eating, but as i eat a bit slow i had not finished yet. The wait brought the bill, my friends just said "food was not good". The staff didn't say anything at that time but after paying the money, even i had not finished my food... He misbehaved us and told us to get up and go. We can not talk there. My friends said she's eating and it will take 2 mins only, the staff was like looking into my bowl of raita n said what's she eating? He did that thrice n i felt so uncomfortable. Other customers were stopping him not to do that... And he is saying me raitaa is to be eaten with biriyani only.. Actually it was our first bowl of raita....as the biriyani was not good so we didn't eat along with biriyani. But it's our choice how will we eat our food, who the hell was he to tell us. He had no manner how to behave with a lady customer. We had to wait for a long time for the food, and when food was served we were expected to eat quickly n go. The bad quality of food and staff's behavior ruined our mood. I left my food there and we exited. Service was also poor, after serving the starter plate was to be changed for the main course but they served us in the same plate. Serving manner was also not good as if the waiter was not at all interested. If they have such a rush they appoint more staffs. It was overall a bad......actually not..... It was the worst experience of mine. A BIG NO TO...
Read moreTerrible service. Indifferent attitude and untrained staff. They don't even have a feedback/complaint book.
They got us undercooked mutton Biryani and when we complained to the manager about it, he said, "Others are not complaining...". A couple of minutes ago we saw him being reprimanded by people at another table and this blatant lie of his infuriated me and led to scolding from us which resulted in his acceptance of the fault and he took those pieces and brought them back later. By the time he got them back, the biryani was cold. We had ordered water and cold drinks which he had to be reminded of atleast 3 times at separate occasions. Then they took way too long to get finger bowls and couldn't understand when we asked them to get a feedback form/book because there is none at theirs. We were extremely disappointed with their service and attitude.
We spoke to the guy at the ground floor counter who was the supposed incharge. He was a bigger disappointment. He has no idea how to talk to customers and listen to their grievances. Our criticism felt like they fell on deaf ears with occasional cold responses.
We had an abominable experience at this so called restaurant. Would never recommend...
