Visited with family for Independence Day special Lunch Buffet and was the first guest in the restaurant (at around 12:45 pm). Food though already in place but last preparations were still ON. Hence, instead of the girl at restaurant's entry, we were greeted by 'Surya', who thereafter look after our table and must say, it makes a hell of a difference if a specific person is looking after the table. We were shown all the empty tables & were asked to pick any :)) Surya shared the special occasion and menu for it. we proceeded with the food. There were 8 in total starters (4 veg & 4 non-veg) and there after, limited but good spread for main coarse, soups, salads and deserts ! Quality of most of the food items were better than good dry chicken in starters, chicken biryani and Paneer in mains, pastas, pasta salad, exotic vegetables salad and mostly all deserts were good ! Had a good experience with not so so many dishes but limited dishes with quality and having very good service at the table makes the difference ! PS: If there would have been food or drink specifically for Independence day special menu (sounds cheezy but keeping things in perspective), then things would have been much much better too !
Anyway, Thanks 'Surya' for very good service and will recommend Palms kitchen for pocket friendly "luxury" experience (eventually, it's a...
Read moreA Marriott property by name but the experience was nowhere close to the reputation.
I came to try their breakfast buffet on a weekday. It was around 8 AM and there was nobody at the door to check on the customer. There was no sign of any valet service either.
On venturing inside, I did not find any sanitizers or temperature checks being done for people coming to have breakfast.
The options in the buffet are extremely limited although the taste is not bad. The only item which piqued my curiosity was dosa and chutney.
The muffins were old and did not taste good, the coffee was on the colder side. The list of unimpressive things just grew.
The service was disappointing. Initially, nobody even bothered to check on us until I gave them a piece of my mind.
Thereafter, they were prompt but their nature was grim and did not have the pleasantness one is used to at a Marriott chain.
It seems that the emphasis is on in house guests and while that is ok, what is not acceptable is no covid protocol checks being conducted at the entrance.
The staff wore masks but most of the guests did not bother to do so. Where is the check and what happens if something goes wrong and somebody gets infected?
I wanted to try this place since a long time and now as I have done so, I will be in no hurry to return...
Read moreIf this was a normal restaurant would deserve 3 stars for the average experience but given its a 5 star luxury category, this is not what one expects from Mariott. Comparing with others in the class, it deserves nothing more than 1. It was crowded, noisy and space felt cramped. Even the items were all arranged in a small space, though the spread itself was not so vast. Even for limited items, the quality one excepts from Mariott is missing. The taste and experience is average even when compared to a regular fare restaurant. There was no ice cream in desert and the sweets were just a vanilla pudding, some indian wheat halwa and average pastry that one gets in a local bakery. Welcome drink was also like not fresh but the ready made ones. None of the items were above average. Even noodles was mostly plain oily with some carrot or capsicum you have to search and get. Worth spending this money or even if paying a little more, there are more simple restaurants serving much...
