Tatva, a vegetarian fine dine restaurant has created quite a noise already. Before you chuck it off for being pure vegetarian, this is one of those restaurants where hard core non-vegetarian foodies recommended to me and shared their mind-boggling experience.
Having missed many chances to visit, I finally fixed this place for a relaxed lunch with my best friend on a Friday. There was a Mexican food festival going on for 599 AI, which is a steal-deal after looking at the prices on the menu. It had a 5 course set meal with choices in each course.
Although 'Hot Toddy' was not in the Mexican Set-menu, they were kind enough to serve it. The Hot toddy was a drink that was recommended by many. It was a hot drink with orange wedges and lots of spices (Cardamom, cloves, cinnamon barks) burnt directly. It was refreshing but I couldn't feel the hype behind it. The Jalapeno Margarita on the other hand was the right thing I wanted as it was spicy, tangy and the salt rim took every sip from good to great. we ordered another mocktail Dragon Fruit Mojito, where the dragon fruit is mashed up into tiny chunks, which was later again added into the Mojito. Apprehensive to order in the beginning, I realized I made a right choice. It tasted very natural.
In Soups, we tried the Chile De Zanahoria, a hot carrot soup with chilli and cilantro. It was so good that I ended up lifting the bowl to clean it off. The flavoured bread given with it was soft, moist and well done. The Gazpacho on the other hand was a cold soup with cucumber and tomato as base. The subtle spices and the chilled soup made it very refreshing.
In the starters, I had the Tres Amigos was hard-shell tacos with guac, sour cream and salsa fresca. There were three coloured tacos, where one was normal and other two were flavoured. The Chipotle De Hongos was one of the brilliant creations of Chef Naveen Nagaraj . They were batter fried mushrooms stuffed with spinach and ricotta with chipotle flavoured sauce. Although I expected them to be spicy, the spinach and ricotta stuffing played with the chipotle to bring the hotness to a balance. But the portion size was only 2, which was very sad.
In Salads, I liked the Citrica, a tangy fruit salad very much with the sour orange dressing. The cucumber fajita salad was dislike as it was bland and the grilled veggies were not so great after getting cooled down for me.
In Mains, I wanted to try the Pasta Mexicano, where the chef took the fusion to another level. On the bed of a creamy Chipotle sauce, lies the macaroni. It had olives, sun dried tomatoes, chilli flakes. The sauce had a peculiar smoky flavour from the chipotle chillis. The Chimichanga is a fried burrito which is a popular dish. Burrito is like a wrap and here the outer crust is deep fried and gets that crunchy texture. The stuffing had guacamole, sour cream, cheese and salsa fresca. It was accompanied with Mexican rice but the rice was cold, dry and lost it's taste.
In Desserts, I had to go for the Avocado lime cheese cake. Now, although I have sweet tooth, I wanted to see how avocado and lime go in a dessert. It had mild sweetness and was slightly sour. It was very refreshing to taste and it was very unique. The Momentos De Fusion is a chocolate ball with mousse inside. It was served with hot salted caramel sauce, where the sauce is poured over the ball to melt it away to discover the treasure inside. Visually and in terms of taste, it was stupendous!
The festival is extended till second week of March as there was a huge response. Don't miss out on this!
Total bill for two was 1078 INR after 10% discount and a complimentary...
Read moreWe had such a fantastic time dining at Tatva in Jubilee Hills. Honestly, from the outside, you wouldn’t expect much, but the moment you walk in, it’s like stepping into a different world—really upscale, spacious, and cozy all at once. The vibe inside is warm and welcoming, which made us feel instantly comfortable and ready to dig in.
The staff were amazing—super attentive without being over the top. They were friendly, checked in just the right amount, and were happy to share their recommendations. It really felt like they cared about making our experience special.
We tried quite a few dishes, and each one surprised us in the best way:
The Manchow Soup was full of flavor—just the right kick to start the meal.
The Bhatti Ki Aloo was incredible. The potatoes had this smoky, roasted flavor that was packed with spices without being overwhelming. Definitely a dish we’ll remember.
Now, the Karare Kumbh really stole the show for us. These are little roomali rolls stuffed with mushrooms and cheese, fried until perfectly crispy. My wife normally isn’t a fan of mushrooms at all, but this completely changed her mind. She loved them so much, she kept going back for more! The crispy outside and creamy inside made for a perfect combo.
The Gondolas were something different and delicious—a small, boat-shaped pizza inspired by Venice, topped with sun-dried and cherry tomatoes, capers, olives, zucchini, and creamy mascarpone and mozzarella. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, nicely balanced with the cheeses melting everything together. It looked as good as it tasted.
Finally, the Cashew Nut Pulao was aromatic and had a lovely crunch from the cashews. It was light and fragrant, which balanced the meal just right.
Overall, Tatva isn’t just about food, it’s an experience. The mix of a cozy yet fancy atmosphere, great service, and creative vegetarian dishes made our evening super memorable. Yes, it’s on the pricier side—our total bill came to ₹2,659 for three of us—but honestly, the quality and vibe made it worth every rupee.
If you decide to go, make sure to order the Karare Kumbh. Those crispy, cheesy mushroom rolls really won us over. And don’t miss the Gondolas either—such a fresh, Mediterranean twist that you don’t find everywhere.
Tatva truly shows how vegetarian food can be exciting, inventive, and downright delicious. Would definitely recommend this place if you want a top-notch meal served with care in a...
Read moreTATVA! It always disappoints by having a reputation that it never disappoints (and I don’t know how you read that, but it could — in a way — be a compliment). First of all, the restaurant itself is all the way on the second floor which makes not directly accessible to people walking on the street. That wasn’t a huge problem to us, as the entrance was very welcoming and we were immediately seated. We were given a choice of regular or bottled water, and the bottled cost 100 rupees! What a rip off! We then ordered and the food arrived fairly swiftly. We got a sizzling paneer tikka masala, four varieties of bread, a veggie rice, a mushroom gravy, and ended with 2 desserts! The sizzling paneer came all hot and sizzly on a platter and the gravy arrived separately. The waiters oh so graciously served it but there were only 4 paneer pieces on the sizzle so each person only got ONE!! That set us back around 650 rupees. Then for the breads! This was where the real disappointment kicked in! The garlic naan was ok, so was the butter, but the Latha Paratha was real dry — but that’s not all — the RUMALI ROTI, one of the worst you can get! So hard and chewy, without an ounce of flavor! We even informed the waiter about how inedible it was, they said what they had to say but IT STILL SHOWED UP ON THE BILL!!!! The mushroom gravy was a real hit-or-miss among the guests, and the pulow was oh-so-stuffed with all the sweet peas they could find!! Then, on to the desserts, the best part of the meal! The blueberry bliss dessert was really delicious, and the chocolate a la whatever dome with a treasure they call it, as theatrical as it may be, sometimes apples just don’t cut it!! Apples don’t go with chocolate and caramel (unless they were trying to go the caramel candy apple route), but still, for 500 rupees a dessert, it’s up to you to decide! By the way, the ambience and looks of the restaurant were really good and fancy, and the bathrooms were very clean! They even open the doors when you leave, which was a nice touch! Go here for a nice veggie meal while in the area, and be sure to check out Peddhamma Gudi...
