Read moreIf you’re craving bold, authentic Telugu flavors served with flair, Jathara Bar & Kitchen is an absolute must-visit. Tucked away with a vibrant, earthy ambiance that immediately feels like a fusion of tradition and modernity, Jathara delivers a culinary experience that’s both nostalgic and exciting.
🌟 Highlights from the Feast: 🔸 Kothakota Kodi Kabab This kabab is a revelation. Smoky, juicy chicken infused with a rustic spice blend that hits all the right notes. The marinade has just the right amount of heat and tang, with hints of coriander and pepper – a definite must-try for lovers of Andhra-style grilled meats.
🔸 Nayanamma Natukodi Vepudu A true homage to traditional home-style chicken fry. The country chicken is perfectly cooked – slightly chewy as expected – but loaded with fiery spices and fried curry leaves that add that extra crunch and aroma. It feels like something lovingly made in a grandmother’s kitchen.
🔸 Burrt Garlic Loose Prawns These prawns are a flavor bomb. Cooked in a buttery-garlicky sauce with a Telugu twist, they manage to be spicy, juicy, and packed with umami. The garlic doesn't overpower but enhances the dish beautifully.
🔸 Jaatara Mix Pulav If you’re indecisive, this pulav is the answer. A generous mix of meats and spices, it's rich, fragrant, and wonderfully textured. Every bite brings a surprise – from chunks of mutton to juicy chicken and eggs, all sitting on a bed of fluffy, flavorful rice.
🔸 Mattamma Gari Mamsam Pulav This one’s a show-stealer for mutton lovers. The meat is tender, cooked on the bone, and deeply infused with aromatic spices. The rice carries the essence of slow-cooked curry, making it incredibly satisfying. It’s heavy but worth every spoonful.
🔸 Spicy Guava (Mocktail) The perfect refresher amidst all the heat. This drink is tangy, mildly sweet, and comes with a chili-salt rim that elevates the guava flavor. It’s got that street-side fruit vendor vibe – but elevated and beautifully presented.
✅ Verdict: Jathara Bar & Kitchen goes beyond just serving food – it offers a cultural experience, rich in Andhra heritage with a contemporary twist. The service is warm, portions are generous, and the spice levels are not for the faint-hearted – but true to the region’s culinary roots.

Read moreWe recently celebrated a friend’s birthday at Jathara Bar & Kitchen in Jubilee Hills, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. From the ambience to the food and service, everything clicked perfectly for the occasion.
The restaurant has a vibrant yet comfortable vibe. The décor is modern, with warm lighting and well-chosen music that sets a lively but not overwhelming mood. Seating is spacious and works well for both small and large groups. The crowd was mixed — families, friends, and couples — giving the place a welcoming energy. It felt festive, which made it ideal for a celebration.
Being a vegetarian, I focused only on the veg dishes, while my friends tried non-veg items and beers. I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian options — often veg food gets sidelined at bar-and-kitchen style places, but here the dishes were thoughtfully made. The paneer starters were soft and full of flavour, mushroom starters had the right crispiness, and the vegetarian pulao and curries were rich and satisfying. My friends loved their non-veg dishes, especially the Mattamma Gari Mamsam Pulao and Avakaya Chicken Biryani, which they said were flavourful and cooked perfectly. They also enjoyed their beers, which were served chilled and paired well with the food.
We ended with desserts, and they deserve a special mention. The kova puff and apricot delight were light, sweet, and the perfect finish to a hearty meal.
Service throughout the evening was excellent. The staff were polite, attentive, and managed our group efficiently even though the restaurant was busy. They also made small but thoughtful gestures to ensure the birthday celebration felt special. Food was served on time, and the staff helped with suggestions when we were unsure what to order.
Pricing is slightly premium, but for Jubilee Hills, it’s reasonable. A meal for two without alcohol comes to around ₹1,800–₹2,000( check dineout, district for discounts), and portion sizes are generous, making it good value for groups.
Overall, Jathara Bar & Kitchen is a great choice for birthdays, get-togethers, or even a relaxed evening out. The combination of ambience, tasty vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, attentive service, and a festive vibe makes it one of the best...
