The wall paintings, the décors used here are miniature of dolls and bullock cart , rangoli on the roof top and the soothing music in background will give you home like feels ! And the chef here is a lady who's an expertise in cooking Andhra dishes spcly like Sangati, garelu, bobattlu so let me tell you about my experience of having pure traditional telugu food after a long time at teluguness starting with the soups Miriyala Rasam :- this was so flavourful and so spicy with a bit of tanginess !! Mushroom capsicum seekulu :- I really liked these mushrooms and capsicum seekulu (skewers) these were moist ! Flavoursome and perfectly cooked !! Kodi seekulu :- chicken skewers the chicken was tender and as it is made of avakaya so it was a bit salty !! Royyala Vepudu :- crispy from outside and soft and tender from inside with subtle amount of spices made this Prawns fry taste very good !! Mokka Jonna garelu :- these corn vada's are so soft and specially the chutney served along with it was just Lipsmacking !! Kodi garelu :- I didn't knew that there would be something like chicken Vada ! Well I'm trying this for the first time and this was sapid!! alsanda garelu :- these are vada's made up of black eyed peas ! These tasted so appetising I tell you if you ever visit teluguness you should definitely try alsanda garelu !! Ragi mudda with Mutton pulusu :- so basically old people like to eat ragi mudda instead of rice as it is very healthy ragi mudda is made of ragi flour and given flavour of ghee so we had ragi mudda with Mutton pulusu well that's a bit combination tho the Mutton pulusu was spicy and succulent !! Nune Vankaya Kura with roti :- the eggplant curry when served with roti was scrumptious ! The flavours in the nune Vankaya Kura were so dainty and the aroma was so tempting that you'll be wanting to have it more and more !! Teluguness Spcl veg Sangati :- basically Sangati is served with some curry along side but teluguness has come up with their new idea that they combine the Sangati with the curry that is to the served it's like a fusion . Teluguness Spcl veg Sangati tasted yum and another point to be noted was that it was a healthy meal !! Teluguness Spcl Mutton Sangati :- I really loved the fusion of Mutton and Sangati it was mouthwatering It reminded me of haleem the only difference was that the Mutton in haleem is grated but here you find chunks of Mutton!! Anyhow I just loved it ! Korra Payasam :- foxtail millet kheer ! So this was appealing with a loads of ghee and topped with golden brown Cashew nuts I liked the flavour and most importantly this is way too healthy than other Payasam or kheers Gulab Jamun :- gulab Jamun was so perfect the sugar syrup consistency and the perfectly fried Jamun made this Dessert taste so good...
Read moreIf there was ever a contest for cooking up the fieriest delicacies, a native of Andhra Pradesh or Telangana would indisputably win away all with flying colors. Food is one of the important things which the people in this part of the country take it very seriously. There are many varieties of food for different regions of the Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. While talking in regards to Andhra cuisine, it is vital to maintain the split of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in mind. After Telangana attained its identity as a separate state altogether, a lot many mouthwatering delicacies- that were once coupled up with Andhra Pradesh - shifted to become a Telangana exclusive cuisine. Interestingly, the two states are quite spread out yet much similar in their style of cooking. As Red chili is produced in abundance in these two states which makes it a hot favorite among the localities. A word of caution that if you take a bite of any authentic Telugu or Andhra dish, you are sure to fan your mouth cool right after the very first bite! Here is a restaurant with a mission to bring back authentic Telugu dishes which are becoming extinct, to connect people to their roots and re-create the magic of their ancestral homes. Located in busy lanes of Hitech city, just amidst the IT hub of Hyderabad, Teleguness which is an inception from the mind of Vikash Reddy, has undertaken on the unique initiative after realizing that many dishes are becoming extinct due to changing lifestyles these days. It offers authentic dishes from the two Andhra states. Moreover, the name of the restaurant itself evokes curiosity by giving one an impression of nothing but true authenticity in terms of the dishes Teleguness offer. The wall paintings, a miniature of dolls and bullock carts, rangoli & decor on the rooftop clubbed with some authentic soothing music places you in an ethnic homely ambiance thereby leaving a cultural touch of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The food here is served on plates covered with Banana leaf which gives us the natural essence. Starting off with the food that was presented, we were given Miryala Rasam & Paya Shorba, both of which were apt in terms of flavors although Rasam was a bit more flavourful. Moving on, Karvepaku Paneer Seekulu, Mushroom Pepper Fry, Miriyala Paneer Pakoda, Kodi Seekulu, Kurnool Kodi Pakodi were some of the starters that are worth to be tried; all of which were nothing but lip-smacking in terms of texture & flavors. From the mains, we were presented with Veg Sangati, Chitti Garelu with Mamsam, Mamsam Ghee Vepudu, Palak Paneer, Mudha Pappu Ghee Rice, Kakinada Royalla Pula & Ulvacharu Veg Pulav. Out of these, Mudha Pappu Ghee Rice, Sangati & Kakinada were the show stealers easily. Finishing off on a sweeter note, Junnu, Chakira Pongal, Bellam Garre & Gulab Jamun were presented, out of which my favorite was Chakira Pongal which is a good sweet dish to end your meal with. Nevertheless, if you are craving some good Telegu Food, we would suggest you visit Teluguness at the earliest as it serves some really great authentic Telugu cuisines & don’t forget to try one of the above mentioned amazing food items to relish the taste of unique Andhra style tangy spices...
Read moreTeluguness_official another venture from the Kritunga - The Palegar's Cuisine management has set their doors open a month ago in a prime location opp to cyber pearl Hitech city (sharing the same building of café Bahar & Paradise) with a 100 seater space & Teluguness in every detail.! From the Kondapalli toys to Kalamkari designed Chairs, Hand printed lamp shades to Hand sketched Rangoli on the roof, Old-fashioned wooden glass doors to canvas paintings resembling typical Telugu village style , serving in banana leaves to the dishes on the menu …. A Total Telugu Affair that gets you native vibes..! A well curated simple menu leaving no confusion, featuring dishes from the three Telugu speaking regions with one page of North Indian delicacies for national guests. Decently priced which makes the meal for two around 600-700 INR.
Among the served delicacies few that really stood out and deserve a bow were #KurnoolKodiPakod, #MushroomKaaramSeekulu, #KodiSeekulu , #VelluliChicken, #KaramRoyyalaVepudu. Besides, #KheemaBalls (a little salty) & #Mokkajonnagarelu (made with sweet corn which lost the authentic taste but roti pachadi served along was damn good. Missing the rough authentic texture though) were decent. I haven’t had #ChickenSambarRice & #MudhapappuAnnam but heard it was fabulous. Sold out for the day but their Signature Ragi Sangati is a must try which created a buzz ones at Palegars Kitchen (currently stopped). Infact they hold a patent for it. They have some spl in house desserts like #BellamGare, #KorraPayasam but haven’t tried though due to my diet limitations.
Serving a welcome drink (like buttermilk) & pan at the end should have got few more brownie points. However suggestion taken which is considered. Currently they stopped serving thali with the low serving numbers but soon coming up with lunch buffet which adds up a lot with corporate buzzing around.
Just few days in market where up’s and down’s are expected so a fair feedback if visiting should help them position rightly in the market. Otherwise a place to vouch on typical Telugu food.
Overall a good meal & I shall go back for their VFM Signature Combos.
