Extremely unprofessional management. So here's why. Two of the visits we made were only to have their dessert: Apricot Delight. We know it gets sold out quick, so we made a call beforehand to let them know what time we'll be coming and that to keep the number of desserts aside for us. First time, we called and went. They asked us to wait as there was a they were full. We told them we were there only for the dessert, and asked if it is still available. They said it was. After that, they made us wait for 45+ minutes. We were getting impatient, and so I reached out to one of their staff and asked what was the status. He said he'll check, and on checking he said they had run out of the desserts. So, they had made us wait for nothing for a good 45+ minutes, and weren't even a bit apologetic about it. The next time, we called again beforehand to let them know we'll be coming at around a certain time to have "Apricot Delight" in specific and to keep please reserve 4 portions for us, to which they had agreed. Once again we confirmed on reaching if the dessert was available and they said it was. Then, they made us wait outside due to space issues for like an hour, after which they said the dessert was unavailable for the night. This time, we really got agitated as it was the second time the same unprofessional incident had taken place. We asked to talk with their manager, and after having a talk with him they served us the dessert in under 10 mins. Now you would think it was good on their part to make the dessert, but this is technically not possible since the preparation of that dessert takes more than some 10-15 mins. This led us to the conclusion that the restaurant was knowingly denying of the dessert, and making us wait like idiots for an hour both the times.
Such unprofessional restaurants are not to be visited, no matter how good their food tastes, because they do not have the basic courtesy of how to behave or treat their customers. I'd definitely NEVER recommend this...
Read moreIt’s a neat place right at the heart of the city, serving a huge range of culinary delights. Recommended for a proper lunch / dinner.
Food - we came here to try the vegetarian thali. The thali menu was basic, 3 puris and rice, and other usual accompaniments. No sweet, which was weird for a South Indian thali. Also tried the special seasonal mango pudding, which was just okay, had the flavour, but not not so much of the actual fruit! The menu has a variety of other trademark items such as the MLA potlam, but we didn’t try any of those.
Quality & quantity: the quality was great. Can’t say the same for taste. As for quantity, perhaps they would refill the sides in a thali if asked, but we didn’t try.
Price: it is quite expensive, owing to the location, premises and the quality. 2 vegetarian thalis, 1 naatukodi roast and one mango pudding came to a total of approx. ₹1200. Not too expensive, but not cheap either.
Atmosphere: the exterior is very welcoming. Looks like it usually attracts a big crowd (we visited on a Saturday), and seats are allocated before you enter the dining area. Where we got to sit is not the main hall, it looked like a small extension near the restroom in the first floor, and we were made to share a 6 seater table with another coupe (2 couples in a 6 seater table), which I didn’t like at all! If I wanted to share dining space, I would rather visit a bandi, but I do understand the arrangement in respect of managing the crowd. They could have at least asked us if we don’t mind sharing a table, which they didn’t and were directly taken to the table upon entering. Not sure if prior booking is possible.
Parking: not an issue, as there are plenty of valet assistants.
Overall, can head here for a a good quality meal with family. Not going to go too easy on the pocket, and definitely recommend prior booking to get a...
Read moreTrue to its name, The Spicy 🌶 Venue offers some spicy delicacies that would definitely excite your palate. We frequented this place pre pandemic for such delectable lunches on Sundays.
Hygiene practices at the entrance are taken care of well. They even sanitise the sole of your shoes...don’t know how it helps, but they do.
They would usually serve hot and scrumptious food, but now things are different. This was our first visit to this place post lockdown, and we were dismayed to be served food that was cold, not even warm. We were made to wait forever for our order to come, despite most of the tables not been occupied even (we were there at 12:30 pm to avoid the waiting). After several reminders, were told that the TSV Spl. Prawns Pulao was being prepared. We were preparing ourselves for a gastronomic experience, only to be served some cold pulao onto our plates. We were clueless and also eager to know how they managed to get us this chilled pulao when it was just being ‘prepared’ minutes ago. When we called our waiter and told him, he asked if he could heat it for us. And there we were, with the pulao served onto all of our plates, with only 2 spoonfuls left in the serving bowl. He confidently took the remaining rice and got it back a little warm, while we just gulped down the remaining rice. Same was the case with the Loose Prawn starters...they were made before hand, and served cold and chewy. Any number of complaints to the waiter went unheard. Their Chicken 65 is worth a try...it is spicy and succulent. The Apricot Delight dessert as usual was delicious and we enjoyed it being...
