Being recommended to have the delicious walnut brownie at this place, we visited the restaurant a couple of times last week. Our first visit was after the usual rush hours, so not many guests were there…but we were left unattended for almost 10-15 minutes with the staff just passing by and not checking on us! When I raised an alarm at the cash counter, only then one waiter attended us! Walnut brownie was good! Second visit was just when they had started at around 12 noon! Again the waiter was a bit arrogant while taking the order. My wife and daughter ordered chicken biryani, while I stayed away from non veg food that day. My daughter started to feel sick on the flight within 4-5 hours post lunch and threw out at the airport! My wife managed to somehow hold till we reached home and once there, she also immediately threw out! Since then they had such a severe diarrhoea, that they had to be hospitalized for getting treated for food poisoning! As we reflected on the last food intake before the trouble started, we could recollect that the chicken biryani seemed to be not fresh, and appeared to be served after reheating. But since we had to catch a flight and were short on time, didn’t argue much! Least did we expect that it’s not just stale, but not even preserved properly causing it to be contaminated! I had to spend close to Rs 30000/- towards hospitalisation and treatment for my wife and daughter, leave aside the trauma it caused until we reached the hospital on a Sunday! Although the restaurant seems to be quite popular amongst the tourists, there’s a lot that the management could do to improve the guest experience..firstly follow ethical and hygienic practices while operating in food industry, and secondly treat the guests with some respect…it doesn’t take much time for the reputation to go down the drain with such arrogant staff in service, and eventually lead to a...
Read moreSet against the tranquil backdrop of Kashmir’s majestic landscape, Stream Restaurant flows with the essence of the region—calm, elegant, and rich in flavor. From the moment you arrive, the warmth of the staff and the serenity of the space make it clear that this is no ordinary dining experience.
Service here is exceptional. The team is attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being overbearing, and genuinely passionate about Kashmiri cuisine. Their care for both the food and the guest experience shines through in every interaction.
The menu pays homage to traditional Kashmiri flavors with refined execution. The Goshtaba—tender mutton meatballs in a delicately spiced yogurt gravy—was cooked to perfection, while the Rogan Josh delivered bold flavors and melt-in-your-mouth meat, striking the perfect balance between spice and richness.
Vegetarian dishes are no afterthought at Stream. The Dum Aloo and Nadru Yakhni (lotus stem in a creamy yogurt sauce) were beautifully seasoned and carried a distinct home-style authenticity that’s hard to find outside a local kitchen.
But the standout of the evening was dessert: the Kashmiri Walnut Tart.
This dish alone is worth the visit. Crafted with a flaky, buttery crust and filled with a rich, aromatic mixture of locally sourced walnuts, the tart is subtly spiced and perfectly sweet. Paired with a touch of saffron-infused cream, it's a brilliant fusion of regional ingredients and refined pastry technique—an unforgettable finale.
We ended the meal with Kahwa, Kashmir’s signature green tea, infused with saffron, cardamom, and slivers of almonds—a soothing, fragrant close to a perfect meal.
Stream Restaurant captures the heart of Kashmiri hospitality and cuisine in every detail. Whether you’re a traveler seeking authentic flavors or a local looking for a special night out, this is a place that delivers consistently and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Stream Restaurant in Srinagar, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely delicious and scrumptious, with each dish exceeding our expectations.
The standout dishes for us were the Mutton Kebab, Dal Tadka, Mutton Rogan Josh, and Mutton Masala. The Mutton Rogan Josh was particularly impressive, with tender mutton pieces that were soft as pillows, and a flavorful curry-style gravy that was a refreshing change from the thick, rich gravies we've had elsewhere.
The Mutton Masala was a new discovery for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed its unique flavor profile. The Dal Tadka was also noteworthy, especially since Nashir Sir, our server, requested the chef to prepare it in a home-style, light version, which was perfect for our taste buds.
Speaking of Nashir Sir, the staff at Stream Restaurant were extremely polite and courteous. Nashir Sir went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience, sharing valuable insights about the best spots to visit in Kashmir and the ideal time to plan a trip. His knowledge and enthusiasm added a personal touch to our dining experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Stream Restaurant to anyone looking for authentic, delicious Kashmiri cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The combination of exceptional food, outstanding service, and Nashir Sir's expertise makes it a must-visit destination for foodies and travelers alike. Five stars isn't enough – we'd give it a glowing review anytime we...
