Good food , nice servings.MV Kunhipakky the founder of Cool Land hails from Mahe, After trying his hands at many other forms of business, he became a restaurateur. He began his first restaurant in kottayam with partners and it’s name was "Paris Restaurant" which apparently shows his emotional relationship with Mahe (a former French enclave) where he had resided. In 1952 he started another restaurant namely “De Paris”, The name again was evocative of the French connection of his native place. Later on 27th dec 1977 he began his last one in kottayam and its name was “New De Paris”.
In 1964 he started "Cool Land" in kannur partnering with his son VP Abdul Kader who had been his ardent supporter and moral strength throughout his life. The restaurant earned the reputation of being the most hygienically kept one in kannur and subsequently won the award from the municipality for maintaining the quality. One of the main dishes served in the premise was Dum Biriyani, which was not familiar to common people, which the restaurant made affordable to them. As part of maintaining hygiene, plates, bowls and cups where sterilized before they are used for serving, a practice which was not common in ordinary restaurant in those days, which he made it mandatory even now in his restaurant.
