Today evening, I went to the much hyped Sufi Makhan restaurant. As from other reviews and after passing by several times, I've already noticed that this place has great ambience. Needless to say, that ambience got me in today and I was not disappointed at all. Then I ordered a shawarma, malai tikka, Fettuccini Alfredo chicken pasta and butter nan. After waiting for almost 30-40 mins they brought me the shawarma. It was good than the usual ones I had from kannur. Then the wait continued for another 20 mins, that I had already finished a 45 min web series episode by the time they brought the second, third and fourth items. To my surprise, the pasta in white sauce was average with mild flavours(not bland) and the Malai Tikka was utter flop. Not only it lacked flavours, it was very evident that it was cooked hours before and reheated and it was not even hot when they served us. Chicken felt old, not juicy and non tender. I struggled to finish that item and only did finish it because it was costly and I paid for it. The Nan was okay. Overall, the experience was poor and only rating would be for the ambient lighting. Also, they charged us the price of Fettuccini Prawn pasta for the chicken pasta I had (20 rs more) and when I asked about that, they gave an excuse that the menu is not updated and both pastas have the same price. I'm utterly disappointed to pay such huge price for the dishes that turned out to be a disaster for me. I would definitely NOT...
Read moreVisited this restaurant around 5:30pm with family, ordered a shawarma roll, and a paneer 65.
The shawarma which was served first, tasted basic. We had to wait for another 20 minutes for the paneer dish. It wasn't a busy hour as most of the seats were empty.
The 8 pieces of paneer65 was soaked in oil and it only had an unpleasant taste of just the oil it was fried in. The batter/paneer didn't have any flavour whatsoever - just oily. The worst part is how the guy at the front desk reacted when I raised the concern. It's understandable, some days, the food may not be the best but I believe the ones at the front desk should address the issue with care. They didn't even care to apologise or offer us another plate, the guy just gave unreasonable excuses like the kitchen was busy and what not. The folks at our adjacent table was also raising a similar concern with the front desk/cashier but their issues were also not addressed with care.
I can manage a bad tasting food, but can't when it comes to how they deal with customers' concerns. Hoping you'll do better...

Food is just meh avg, opening an arabic restaurant in heart of kannur and serving sub par mandhis, absolutely soulless biriyani ( come on guys at least respect kannur biriyani culture dating centuries back ) service staffs are ok nothing to complain about them they don't have proper training just doing the job as they are told to.
Avoid seating close to roadside seating during rainy season, rain will get hold of you.
Their arabic platter is recommendable but still not very consistent one day its off the chart beauty, the other day horrible.
Their french fries with arabic spice topping is good to thulp down with a cold beverage of your choice.
Overall just an average place which has the potential to be an elegant dining destination but have fallen short of it...
