A very disturbing experience today at California Burrito.
The lady at the billing counter (Sabya) laughed it off and said that "it is ok; it is only a small fly" !! When I tried to ask that this is not a good thing, she dismissively walked away. The fly flew away and I reluctantly went to the table with my family to have lunch. Since when is it ok to have flies in the food?
I had declined to give my phone number at the billing counter; to avoid spam and promotional messages. I saw that 51 points were credit to a different number on 'my' bill. Ms. Sabya at the billing counter DIDNOT inform me that if I give my phone number, I can earn credit points for the money spent and that will make me eligible for free meals/any other offer. I went back to the billing counter to ask Ms. Sabya, whose number she put on my bill and credited my points; she immediately panicked. She took the bill from my hand and tried to fold and tear-off the bottom portion where the new phone number was written. I immediately took back the receipt from her hand. Since it was very suspicious; I dialed the number on my bill and found that it is a number of some one living in the state of "Tripura" !!! This is very strange. When I escalated the matter and asked to see the senior manager. one person came out and asked that they will give me another bill with my number. Instead of clarifying to whose number they are transferring customer's credit points; they both tried to persuade me to accept a new bill with my phone number. I declined. The bill says 100 points = Free Meal. I suspect that Ms. Sabya at the billing counter is transferring the credit points of customers to someone known to her and cheating the customer and the company. She surely transferred my points to this number (see photo). This is a serious breach of trust and a wrong thing to do.
Ms. Sabya kept following me and my family upto the exit door apologizing and trying to say something. But we walked out.
I hope the senior people at California Burrito seriously look into this scam going on. If a customer declines to provide their personal phone number for any reason; your employees cannot transfer the credit of the customer bill to some other number (without even informing the customer of the credit points, offers, etc., they could have earned on...
Read moreThis is one the worst location in India with worst possible hygienic standards, worst possible staff's attitude, worst possibly made burritos of this chain and poorly managed area managers like Chetan who thinks customers crafts complaints for no reason which Bert Mueller must know about it. Firstly they are folding burritos with their raw hands without even wearing gloves or maintaining food hygienic standards that you expect from any food chains, secondly staff laughs at you if you question it and anything about it. The worst thing is the attitude of staff namely Alfaz and other girls who cares less to maintain the standards upon questioning and shows attitude back to customers.. shocking part is the manager who openly said he can't do anything when complained about the hygienic situation nor offered to redo the burrito but simply hanged up the call thinking customers don't have any option. They are charging even ₹70-80 for a spoon of sauces which no chain in the world would do. Food regularly (FSSAI) must inspect this location for failing to maintain basic hygiene standards!! I'm reaching out to Bert Mueller with the video captured at this location with details of their failures! So never visit this location unless you want to take a chance but I'm sure you will be disappointed like I did today!!
Edit: so received a call from the area manager namely Chetan who's is even worst and no suprising the staff are being terrible to customers. Firstly he openly supporting his staff without even listening to the complaint from customers side and declaring customer crafts complaints for no reason? Seriously? He said he doesn't want to talk to me about the complaint and hangs up on the customer. Upper management must seriously investigate how this Chetan is handling customer complaints with such arrogant attitude and blaming back customers for complaining? I am editing a video for Bert Mueller to brust the cover lies of managers like Chetan who lies back to customers without sincerely investigating and taking valuable feedback from customers. Read moreFood tastes amazing at most of the California Burrito outlets in Bangalore at least the two which I've tried are at the Twin Towers Parks Vista office and here at Phase 1.
Service can be slightly better as the amount of toppings that they give on their own is almost just less than a tablespoon so you have to say kindly give me a little more of sauce or veggie etc. to suffice your desired quantity(this can be more generous by default or they themselves can ask if the quantity is sufficient for us or we need a little more) I understand it might be to not waste food as giving little and asking for more is a better practice than just giving more than the person can eat but just a tad bit more quantity will be amazing!
They do have charging ports so this place is Work Friendly and is generally somewhat quiet in odd hours or with mild music. So, working from here is okay provided you can manage the calls using noise cancellation features which do work great for me even with calls via the inbuilt MacBook's mic and speaker using Zoom or Teams to take calls with.
OFF TOPIC:
At the end I requested some warm water to be filled in my micro flask from one of the staff members and she bluntly said "no warm only normal water" I wonder how much effort or expense would it take for an outlet so big to provide about 200ml of hot/warm water any way I had expected that they would not entertain my request which of course another small shop which serves dosa and idli did later while I was on the way to home. (Would be awesome if the rejection would be more polite or with some specific reasoning)
Overall 4 stars minus 1 for those two pointers and of course the ambience (including the interior design can be a lot better and have some flavours of Mexico - just a good to have feature of the place which might amplify the experience...
