We visited Karavali Restaurant in Gokarna as it was close to our stay, and we wanted to try some local coastal seafood during our trip. Overall, it turned out to be a good experience. We ordered 2 fish meals, 2 bangda fry, crab sukka, and rava prawns fry. All the dishes were freshly prepared and served hot, maintaining the coastal flavours we were looking forward to.
The fish meals were satisfying and came with all the essential sides, making it a wholesome and comforting option. The crab sukka was nicely prepared, with the spices well balanced, allowing the sweetness of the crab to come through. The highlight of our meal was the rava prawns fry, which was crispy on the outside while remaining juicy inside, making it extremely tasty and a must-try if you visit here.
However, we felt the bangda fry was just okay and did not match our expectations compared to the other dishes. It lacked the punch of flavour we were hoping for, but it was still decent if you want to try it.
The place is a bit small but has a local coastal vibe and can accommodate a decent crowd comfortably. The staff were polite and attentive, and the service was quick even though the place was busy. Prices are reasonable for the quality and freshness of the seafood.
If you are visiting Gokarna and looking to try local seafood in a simple, clean place, Karavali Restaurant is worth visiting, especially for their rava prawns fry...
