If you're looking for an authentic, heartfelt, and incredibly tasty vegetarian meal in Gokarna, look no further than Shree Shakti Cafe. This charming, family-run restaurant is a true gem, offering a warm welcome and vegetarian food that feels like a homely haven.
From the moment you step in, the homely and unpretentious atmosphere makes you feel right at home. It's the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy a meal with family or friends, and know you're in for a genuine treat.
The menu is wonderfully curated, offering something for every age and palate. On my visit, I had the chance to try a few dishes:
· The French Fries were a simple pleasure – perfectly crispy and golden, a universal favourite done right. · The Kaju Masala was an absolute standout! Rich, creamy, and packed with flavour, it was beautifully complemented by soft, fresh Chapati. A must-try for anyone who loves a good North Indian curry. · The Misal Bhaji was a flavour explosion – spicy, tangy, and utterly delicious. It's a Maharashtrian classic that they have mastered. · To finish, the Puliovagare (a sweet and tangy South Indian rice dish) was the perfect balance to the meal, leaving a refreshing taste.
What makes Shree Shakti Cafe even more special is that everything is not only super tasty but also incredibly affordable. You get immense value for the quality and quantity of food served.
I left with a full stomach, a happy heart, and the certainty that I will be a regular customer whenever I'm in Gokarna. Highly, highly...
Read moreI ate at this family-run restaurant almost every day for five weeks, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was excellent and freshly made, with a variety of Indian, continental and Chinese dishes. Typically I would have either banana porridge, masala dosa or idli for breakfast, with a fresh fruit juice of papaya, mango, orange or pineapple. For lunch and dinner I alternated between delicious vegetarian Indian dishes with rice and roti, and excellent Italian pasta dishes, again with fruit juice. I would also drink lemon, mint and milk tea. The sweets include ice cream and fruit salad. The restaurant and kitchen are meticulously clean and the staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about both food and the town in general. As a tourist from the UK I was very pleased that I could have total confidence in the food. Also, this is a great spot to enjoy the numerous evening Hindu rituals and ceremonies in this famous old...
Read moreTheir idli texture is the best I've had. Its a different style one and very well done! the sambar served with idli is just like the temple sambar. I felt content having this. filter coffee was good. I enjoyed their homemade cheese toast (its not sour like store bought cheese) Bombay sandwich was fine. lemon rice was the best! Never had such tastiest lemon rice best. the south Indian meal was also good and light on tummy. matar paneer gravy was also really tasty and not heavy on stomach. pudi idli was okay. Wish the pudi had more ghee in it. The pudi felt a bit dry on the tongue. benne dosa was good. But I wish, it had more butter (benne). pudi masala dosa was tasty.
The price is really cheap for the quality and taste. Definetly visiting this place again to try out more food and...
