Too commercial but great food!
Pai's Tiffin was recommended to me by my host here. Great place, great food, but the problem is, whatever I asked on the menu they said it's not available.
My first visit for breakfast .
Like morning, I was not very hungry, and saw that sell one single idli which is 25 rupees and asked for it. They have lady waitresses along with males. They all carry tablets, and she said, "Okay, that idli is not there, but we have Rawa Idli." Guess what, when the bill came, that idli was 50 rupees.
My Second Visit for Evening snacks .
Again in the evening, I was hungry because I'd skipped lunch. I asked for, "What do they have?" They said, "Aloo Bonda" (which is Batata Vada). I love batata vada, but sometimes I feel it's too fried and stuff. I But what happened, I said, "Just give me some South Indian," and he said, "I'll give you a Tupka." I said, "What is Tupka?" He said, "It's uttapam." I was not very happy with uttapam because uttapam generally gets very dry for me, it's too much dosa types. But then it arrived, and whoa, it was filled with ghee, I love ghee, it was great, but the price again was rupees 75 which is a top price here, I think, for any dish. Anyway, I'm not complaining about the food, but I was thinking this unique way of selling caught my attention. So because I look at the menu, I look at the price, and then I order, and then if that thing which you want to eat is not available, they suggest that you have this instead of that which is the desire you have, so it's just monetizing your desire and upselling it for 2X the price.
My 3rd Visit for hot badam milk
I went again, since i prefer to have fruits for dinner. I had read they have hot badam milk in their menu. I asked for Badam milk, the waiter announces they dont have tea or coffee. I thought he was trying to put words into my mouth, so I specifically said, I am asking for milk and not tea and coffee. He faintly replied they dont have it.
Too commercial
The Business is doing so well, it might have a rich history behind what made it so good. I am sure, it has thise hard core fans, but we are the fringe single person who have odd request, like a glass of badam milk which is in the menu. For the third time they told me NO for what was on their menu. The real reason is the Badam milk was just for Rs 30/- , it doesnt make commercial sense when someone else would come on my seat and order a Rs 300 meal at dinner time. But I went there three times today and my cumulative bill was Rs 300. I hope...
Read moreI had high hopes and fond memories of my favorite restaurant in Manipal, but my recent visit left me feeling thoroughly disappointed and frustrated. After waiting for a seemingly endless 20 minutes without even being acknowledged, my patience was exhausted, and I can no longer recommend this establishment.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but the complete lack of attention or effort to acknowledge the waiting customers was simply unacceptable. I patiently sat there, hoping that someone would notice my presence and offer assistance, but alas, my efforts were in vain.
As the minutes ticked by, I watched the waitstaff bustling around, attending to other tables, and seemingly ignoring the fact that I was waiting at the table . I glanced around, desperately trying to catch someone's eye, but it was as if I had become invisible in this once-friendly environment.
The most frustrating part of the entire ordeal was the fact that I had considered this restaurant to be my favorite spot in Manipal. I had recommended it to countless friends and family members, only to have my trust shattered by this dismal experience. It's one thing to endure a short delay during peak hours, but to not even be acknowledged after waiting for such a substantial amount of time is utterly unacceptable.
As a regular customer, I expected better from a restaurant that had once provided exemplary service and mouthwatering meals. Sadly, my recent encounter has tarnished the reputation of this once-favored establishment in my eyes. I sincerely hope that the management takes notice of these shortcomings and takes swift action to rectify the situation.
In conclusion, my experience at this once-favorite restaurant in Manipal was marred by a lack of attention, disregard for customer service, and an overall disappointment in the level of professionalism displayed. I regret to say that I can no longer recommend this establishment, and I urge potential patrons to consider alternative dining options...
Read moreI actually ordered a Palak kichidi and a jeera rice, it was not too late, i think around 7:30 pm or likely at 8 pm. The Palak kichidi was so good, i never ate the same anywhere else, but the jeera rice was not good, it felt oily and had no salt , no spicy and no taste at all ,I asked for a person regarding this, but he didn't respond properly. The Blue shirt wearing guy was not responding properly he Said rudely that "we make like this only" he was in the 1st floor where we actually sat. But suddenly a guy came up he was also a hotel staff , i thought he was the manager of hotel. Actually He was not involved in this drama of improper serving of food. I don't know why but I scolded him much more. I didn't eat anything from that jeera rice, but my dad had already got served in his plate. Now I'm feeling guilty regarding that. This white shirt person who was not involved in this got scoldings from me and the Blue shirt person stayed silent as if he didn't do anything. White shirt person He calmed me down and gave another the jeera rice parcel, thank you so much for your calmness and good manners Sir.
White shirt person , I'm really sorry for the thing's happened. And the Blue shirt person, please be sensible and don't think that if we order only the main course doesn't mean that we don't have money or budget to buy those starters, we were not having interest to eat those starters at night. Mr blue shirt guy, please treat everyone equally.
White shirt person , I don't know your name. But I'm really sorry for my rude behaviour. I'm really sorry Sir.
And even I took the panner roll parcel, it was delicious. Thank you.
