This should have been a perfect evening at 𝘾𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙥 𝙞𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚, situated in the South Cliff of Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram! However, we visited the cafe for brunch twice and got seated in their AC dining space overlooking the beach.
𝘾𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙥 𝙞𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙤!
From their wide menu, we picked the following:
𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙥 - As creamy and tasty as it can be with generous chunks of chicken
𝙁𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙨 - A very normal fish fingers served with an excellent tartar sauce dip
𝙎𝙢𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙜𝙚 - Two big fat portions of smoked Sausages served along with Hummus was the real treat for the taste buds
𝙂𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘽𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙖𝙪𝙘𝙚 - Prawns grilled to perfection with mildly spiced masala served along with an amazing Butter Garlic sauce and Creamy Mash Potato
𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝘽𝙚𝙚𝙛 - This was the real show stealer of the day! The slow cooked beef was as soft as it can be, with some perfect blend of seasonings and sauce, plated aesthetically along with pumpkin puree and veggies! A must try for any beef eaters.
From the beverages section, we tried 𝙃𝙖𝙯𝙚𝙡𝙣𝙪𝙩 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚, 𝙏𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙪 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚, 𝙇𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙚𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙄𝙘𝙚 𝙏𝙚𝙖 and all were exceptionally good.
The dessert, 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝘾𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙣𝙞𝙚 was so unique and scrumptious for the sweeth toothers in us. As the name hints, it's a piece of luscious brownie dipped in the cold custard cream. Another must try.
As one could easily guess from the location, ambience and the plating, it definitely is a premium priced cafe. It made a dent of around 3k to the wallet, for three of us, one being mypotbelly ;)

Beautiful view of the beach and the horizon, definitely would be a beautiful sunset as the other reviews say, but this is not exclusive to this cafe or the /\ shaped room adjacent to the cafe, this view is very much the same all over the cliffs above the beach in varkala.
That aside, cafe is minimalistic, rustic, nothing bad about it, but lacks the panache of a high end cafe.
Our order was as follows grilled cheese sandwich, indian cottage cheese sandwich, chicken nuggets, Americano and Lemon tea.
Grilled cheese sandwich in the menu mentions cheddar cheese, if you're going to charge INR 250/- for a grilled cheese sandwich you ought to use proper cheddar cheese instead of slice cheese and also grilled cheese sandwich is a very common and easy to make sandwich.
The cottage cheese sandwich with onions was okie, not too bad.
The issue with both the sandwiches was that the bread edges were dry and the fillings hadn't reached there.
Chicken nuggets without a doubt frozen, nothing wrong with frozen nuggets, but when you charge as much the quality ought to be reflected in the product served. And since they're frozen, the amount of fillers that goes into maintaining the texture is uncanny.
Americano was not too bad. Lemon tea again priced at INR 100 would make one assume you'd be using a reasonably decent brand, but what my wife had was Taj Mahal brand of black tea with an over zealous squeeze of lemon.
Lesson learnt is that like all the over rated places, we need to stay away from places where social conformity is the norm in the reviews to not just be disappointed but also to not burn a hole in your pocket.
The ambience is decent and the waiters are alright, although they could smile a little more.
Bill paid INR 1,239/- , would have been still okie if it was about INR...
