Chilla Art Cafe,Old Picnic Spot — Restaurant in Kerala

We had visited Chilla Art Café during our stay in Alleppey. Its spread out and has a funky, artistic vibe. Lots of trees around providing shade and a cooler comfort in Alleppey’s scorching heat. It’s a completely outdoor space yet its comfortable to be here. Music played here was good too. Its predominantly non vegetarian. So a vegetarian like me struggled for options. The staff was courteous but clueless and very very slow. A lot of items which were on the menu were not available. Some simple things like sandwiches could not be prepared was kind of a disappointment. We had the following Gobhi Manchurian and Fried Rice ( as this was the only vegetarian item they sounded sure of) With this we had a Virgin Mojito, Double Chocolate Shake and Blueberry Shake As we could not try any other café in Allleppey, we do not know how does this fair compared to others. I have seen images of this place in the daytime and those looked really great. Maybe sundowner is the right time...

Ordered chicken loaded fries... The owner must buy a plate of loaded fries and give to the chef so that he will know what's meant by loaded fries. It doesn't have a drop of cheese.... French fries fried to almost crisp and some chicken from curry or grilled chicken was chopped and dumped on the fries... You call it loaded fries??? It's a shame... 170 Rupees for a plate. The service was bad, those who serve don't have any etiquette... I haven't seen anyone Wearing lungi and serving food to guests in a good restaurant... Hygiene was very poor, tables were dirty with left overs from previous diners.... You have a beautiful ambience, nice location and huge space, use it efficiently and...

We tried the Gunda chicken. It was so delicious. (₹499)Gunda chicken is a whole small chicken I would say.Enough for 2 or 3 people maximum. We were only 2 guys and we could finish it by ourselves. Also we had a lychee mojito and grapes juice. My friend felt that half of the mojito glass was filled with ice so the liquid quantity was so less(his personal opinion). Taste wise both were good too. I felt a lack of coordination for delivering the food.So many people around that counter area and literally less people taking care of delivering the food. We had to call them out for each of our items. We only saw others having puttu icecream, it's enough for 2 people only...
