Good ambiance and variety food.. this was my earlier review with four stars, which I am down grading now.
Last month, I had a very unpleasant experience at Entree. After finishing dinner and attempting to pay with cash, I was told by the staff at the counter that they didn't have enough change and was asked to pay online instead. I proceeded to pay online and received confirmation that the funds had been transferred from my account. However, Entree claimed the payment didn't go through. Another staff member mentioned having a similar issue. I was told that the money would be credited back to my account within three days and was asked to try the online payment again. I attempted a second online payment, but the same problem occurred. Eventually, a staff member took the cash I had and went to nearby shops to get change, after which I was able to leave. Several days later, I called Entree to follow up about the failed online transactions. They said they would investigate and refund the money. Subsequently, I received a screenshot indicating that the online transfer had failed due to a technical error. Despite multiple follow-up calls where I was repeatedly assured that my refund would be processed within ten minutes, I have yet to receive my money. Based on this experience, I would advise others to be cautious with online payments and consider paying with the exact cash...
Read moreNice ambience but the open air portion of the restauranr was slippery in the rain. Menu is limited. Service was extremely slow and the singular wait staff didn't really know what the dishes were. Each item was one worse that the other - and we could not wait to leave the restaurant.
The steak was too tough to chew, but my friend powered through somehow because he didn't want to waste it. When we confronted the staff, they said they hadn't received any cooking instruction, so they made the steak well done. But shouldn't the wait staff ask the customer, if so. The beef mac and cheese was barely touched by us, so they took it off the bill. That barely made a dent in the final cost though.
Someone on the staff told us that they were doing a 'soft launch' and 'had not done any promotions of their restaurant'. It felt like he was asking us why did we visit the restaurant :/ Anyway if it is a soft launch, shouldn't you serve your best food? Also, if you don't have enough staff and the kitchen is scrambling to prepare quality food, you can't justify the large price of the dishes.
I came here after reading the recent good reviews. After our unfortunate experience, I am doubting their validity. Prior to Covid, Entree had had good food. Now, I will not be...
Read moreThe terrace of a dead beat residence had been refurbished to form a bistro of natural proportions about 4 years back. Ivy creepers wheedle their way through everything. Dense potted plants are placed in every corner possible. Furniture is all wooden, clicking with the rustic nature of the design theme. Even the wash rooms are themed on ochre and pine wood.
But the food needs to liven up. The restaurant offers some interesting recipes, with substantial starters and mains to tuck into. Sandwiches, burgers, lasagne, fries, steaks and sizzlers grace the menu. But most of it doesnât agree with many people. Nonetheless, better than food, a night here might just spark the most interesting dinner conversations as folks converse under a starry night. It is about quality time.
Though a space is small and can fit in barely 40 people, the forces of nature seem irrepressibly overwhelming, to stand in line to get a seat. What the places offers to the cityâs increasingly over-polished restaurant scene is a much needed antidote in the form of a natural setting.
But it is not completely hidden away from traffic. So keep in mind to bear with a couple of honking and...
