Finally got to try out the much hyped shawarmas of Kochi. And it turned out to be a mixed bag. Ordered both the beef and chicken shawarmas in their full meat avatars, with tahini sauce instead of the widely common mayonnaise and no cheese, in an attempt to mimic the authentic taste. First things first, beef was too dry and lacked the flavour I was hoping for. Loved the chicken shawarma, however. The meat was flavourful, juicy and went well with the tahini sauce. Both shawarmas felt fairly light and healthier too, and I didn't feel fullness even with the shawarma being a bit huge. But then again, there was one major issue and that was with the romali roti. All the shawarmas we received had the romali roti burnt at a few spots, mostly due to the dripped cheese or mayonnaise on the toaster. That completely overturned the pleasant experience. Still, believing it to be a 'one bad day at the kitchen', I'll definitely overlook this and try out the same with mayonnaise instead, in the near future. But as it stands, beef shawarma is definitely not recommended, with the chicken shawarma being my pick among the two. And these aren't priced economically, which again comes as a major blow. Here's hoping my next visit would turn out to be a much better one and that the management takes care of the aforementioned romali...
Read moreThis is a sensitive review for your health, so please be extra cautious. Before ordering from Haji Ebrahim or planning to dine at this restaurant, consider my experience carefully. I ordered their Naaz Biriyani through a food delivery app, and what I received was highly disappointing. When I opened the container, a strong, unpleasant smell came from the rice, indicating it was not fresh. The chicken also tasted like it had been stored for a long time, making it hard to believe it came from a reputable restaurant. I was utterly shocked, as I always had a good impression of them until now. This incident was heartbreaking and ruined my trust in their food quality. I ended up giving the entire dish to stray dogs because it was not fit for human consumption.
I am considering reporting this to the food inspection department for further investigation because I don’t want others to have a similar experience. While their lime juices and beverages are decent, I would rate their shawarma only 1.5 out of 5. Sometimes, the mayonnaise tastes off, almost like oil or something due to overuse. I’m now scared that they might be using old chicken in their shawarma too. The owners need to be aware and address these serious issues before they lose more customers. The health department is still sleeping or making...
Read moreIt is one of the best spot for shawarma lovers in cochin. What i tried from here is Chicken Full Meat Shawarma, Beef Full Meat Shawarma, Special Fish Shawarma. As the first i must say this is one of the thickest shawarmas which we get in town. So that, it almost justifies price to quantity. Starting Chicken Full it is wrapped in thin rumali roti which is very soft and had a thick filling of chicken. The chicken filling found to be very juicy, soft and succulent. Moving on to beef. I didnt find it that great, as i felt the filling inside was dry. It was very chewy and was not at all juicy. Moving on Fish it was very tasty, this is my first fish shawarma which I had in my life. The fish was perfectly cooked, very juicy and seemed to be as layers. Apart from fish, there was some veggies and mayonnaise in the filling. So u can taste fish, veggies and in some part mayonnaise felt a bit over powered. Still this is seems to be delicate and very delicious. Chicken full meat and Fish is a must try. They also have Eri shawarma which is also a fish shawarma which is very hard to get. Unfortunately, i was not able to...
