Read moreI’ve never, in my life, encountered staff as aggressive and unprofessional as I did here. We arrived at 1:50 PM and were told they were closed until 2:30 PM. Since service was set to resume soon, we sat down to wait. A staff member then approached us aggressively and said, “Bro, didn’t you hear me? Do I have to force you out now?”
Naturally, I was taken aback and responded - as anyone would - questioning why he was speaking to us that way. Instead of de-escalating, he made things worse by threatening my friend, saying he’d “call his boys” and fight us if we wanted to. We just left.
It was shocking and completely unacceptable. There’s absolutely no excuse for that kind of behavior from anyone, let alone staff representing an establishment. I strongly recommend avoiding this place - no food or ambience is worth being treated like that.
And if you only open at 2:30, maybe make that clear on Google - where people actually check - instead of behaving like literal goons toward unsuspecting...
Read moreThey accept card payments, but sometimes they require the physical card to process the payment. We’ve been to this restaurant twice, and both times we enjoyed the food. My husband ordered garlic naan the first time and chicken curry the second. I tried the fish in a banana leaf—it was not a huge portion but quite tasty.
On our second visit, we also ordered butter garlic naan. It was quite good, though not the best we’ve had in Varkala. We also tried malai kofta—the sauce was a bit thin, but the koftas were hot and tasty. The pumpkin curry was so good that we ordered it twice, portion was for two and it wasn’t spicy at all. My husband also had lemon rice, which he really liked.
The staff is always helpful, though sometimes they take a bit longer to clear tables after previous guests. Overall, the atmosphere is nice, and the music adds to the experience!
I once ordered a smoothie bowl, and it was so runny that I had to drink it...
