This is especially for that biriyani lovers. An absolutely stunning and mind blowing biriyani which fulfil as those hype which we heard about it. Currently this is one of the most trending biriyanis which is available in Kochi. Kerala already have a wide varieties of traditional biriyanis such as Thalassery Biriyani, Malabar Biriyani, Manjali Biriyani etc. This is an entirely new kind of biriyani in Kerala, it is Bohra biriyani which is entirely different in flavour. What we tried from here is Mutton Biriyani and Chicken biriyani. I think a portion of the rice is boiled along with Mutton in its stalk and it gives a fabulous flavour of mutton to the rice. The mutton in the biriyani is well cooked to the core which will be soft, succulent and melt in the mouth so effortlessly. Chicken Biriyani also is so good and very delicious. Chicken Afghani is one of the most selling items here. It is well cooked in cashew nut based gravy which is very creamy and incredibly delicious. I think the price of the items was Rs. 240 for Mutton Biriyani, Rs. 180 for Chicken Biriyani and Rs.220 for Chicken Afghani. Apart from this there will be special Chicken and Mutton biriyani available on sundays which will be different as like a rotation. Please keep the following tips in mind if you are planning to visit here. If you want to dine in Please come by 12 to avoid waiting, if u want take away also is better to come by 12.30, otherwise there will be a big rush and queue for both take away and dine in seperately. There is only few parking in front of the building which will be populated mostly, please remind in this area, road is a bit narrow and if you park in the sides of the roads, you may end up in blocking the usual traffic and creating a traffic jam. This area is always under surveillance and if you park in non designated areas, there is a chance that you will be fined. The location of the restaurant is, when you turn BOT bridge, Thoppumpady towards Fort Kochi direction, it is right in that turn, on down floor of that building at right side, which is opposite...
Read moreAfter seeing many positive feedbacks on eat kochi eat and many foodie's Instagram handles finally I got a chance to visit Jeff Biryani yesterday and my wait was totally worth.
Jeff biryani's outlet is located in thoppumpady on ground floor of a small building and there is not much space inside for dine in and they have only 3 tables which can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests at a time. People normally go for taking parcels rather than having it from there and the same happened yesterday. I was able to see many folks coming out from their cars and collecting parcels from here.
Jeff Biryani is famous for their bohri style mutton and chicken biryani which are available on weekdays and on weekends they provide some special items like (1) Afghan Chicken (2) Hariyali chicken biryani (3) Schezwan Chicken Biryani too along with the normal biryanees.
The outlet mainly functions between 12.00 and 3.00 and they provide only biryanees (Mutton / Chicken) on weekdays.
Customer Service
They have deployed two ladies to attend the customers and for delivering their orders when they go for dine in. Normally people in their 20-30's come for dine in. The guy in beard who serves the biryani at the entrance is the owner of this outlet.

I ate their Mutton biryani in my visit and the taste was really scrumptious. It's unlike our Malabar biryani where the rice of long grain type is used. The rice is perfectly blended with minced succulent mutton pieces and its masala thus contributes to its taste. The accompaniments provided were raita and pickle
I recommend this place to all the gourmands out in Kochi to check it at least once Their biriyanees are really good and...
Read moreBefore telling about the biriyani, i will start with the location. It's important. You'll get to know why. It's situated in Thoppumpadi. Very next to BOT (new) bridge. Opposite to the court complex. So it's a trijunction and have constant traffic. There is no place to park any vehicle. Traffic police will be on duty all the time. The biriyani is a Yemeni delicacy and there will long queues. So if you're going in a car, go with a companion, one of you wait in the vehicle and other stay in queue. So that moving the vehicle will be easy when police comes. Or be ready to pay fine/ get towed. Biriyani is only available on lunch time. 11:30- till it ends (matter of 2 hours generally) . You will be under scorching sun most of the time. Get a cap or umbrella. Dehydrate. Saying it again, you will have to wait so looong in the queue. Ok, now the biriyani. They offer chicken and mutton biriyanis. Mostly take away. They have a tiny teeny space to sit and eat. The person 'Jeff' is a white claden grandpa who runs the business. Legends says he goes market everyday to handpick the right ingredients. It's a family run business. So the love and care could be 'tasted'. It's so different from the usual Kerala biriyani. Different flavour, long grains, spicy masala. No egg. Only side is cabbage salad. Personal opinion: not worth the hype. It's just an average , spicy biriyani. Tried both mutton and chicken.
On Sundays, they serve 'Afghani Chicken', a less spicy , buttery chicken curry. Try it if you get any luck.
Price is little more on the upside. Chicken biriyani is sold at ₹200 and mutton at ₹280. Afghani Murghi at ₹200. So grab a bottle of water, and be on the queue. AND WAIT. watch your favorite series. Average wait time is 45 mins.
