Kingfisher Restaurant — Restaurant in Kerala

I am here in Vizhinjam Beach for pastvfew days, with my 80years old mother. She requires spuceless, digestable food like idli, Dosa, Rice, Dal, curd etc. Tried with few other restaurants around, and finally, Settled at Kingfisher, as the owner abd staff were having, service attitude, to prepare food for my mother.

Other than my mother's special need, we tried other menu's specialty. We liked the taste, quantity and quality of food. Its a common practice here, to display the uncooked sea food. On our choice, they say the price of sea food and whatever preparation required, is served in all Restaurants.

Out of few other restaurants, Kingfisher seafood cost is marginally lower cost.

Dosa (its small size like home cooked dosa) with Aloo baji (Here Chutney sambar not offered for Dosa) Rs 20 per dosa.

Aloo Parotta served with Dahi & Pickles Rs 80

Bread Omlette Rs 80

Poori- Potato Baji Rs 80

Plain Rice (its not kerala Mota rice), Dal Fry, Prawn, Fish Polichathu (Steam cooked with masala covered with banana leaf), Chicken, Fish gravy, Egg fried rice.

The price to the food seems affordable, and Cheaper than goid Restaurants around.

I liked and give 4stars. Reasons for holding another star are a) It takes long time after ordering as they start preparing only after taking the order b) For Dosa, Chutney, sambar is not offered c) Traditional Kerala drinking water (the pink colored herbal water) not served d) Prawn is cooked in full shape, without removing head, legs...

One of the better restaurants near the beach. Go here if you are interested in fish. Because dishes of chicken and beef are scanty and those which are in the menu are just okayish. Fresh catch of fish is in front of the shop for display. So you can choose your fish before you enter. Fish is of good quality, dishes are also pretty good. I say pretty good because it can be better. There have been times when a dish would be a tad bit overcooked, not the end of the world, still. The place is clean and has a good ambience. Especially when the electricity goes out 🤭 (coz they have candles, and its fun with your significant other in that atmosphere, trust me😅). Beer is available I think. Wrong place for hard liquor though. Even if you want beer you mostly only get Kingfisher beer. Overall, it's a good restaurant. If you want reasonable price, need some quantity & quality food and need kf beer then look no further. If there was a minus review, I would have go with that!! Such a pricey restaurant and it is understandable as it is very nearer to the beach! However, for soft drinks (750ml) like Sprite and Miranda they are selling for 60rs where the market rate is only 40rs. Regarding service all the waiters are very rude, they are treating ladies very badly. If we raise any concerns they will get angry and shout on us in very loud voice. All waiters are villains 🦹‍♀️

Food quality and quantity are below average!! Please don’t order any authentic Kerala foods like biriyani, fish curry or any fish items! Because they are cooking such dishes in its worst tasty form!!! Definitely it is not a good place for ladies. Please don’t go there and get yourself treated as beggar!!!
