I’m really confused by the bad reviews here. I lived here ten years ago and I’m living here again, and this is my special dinner or my Sunday brunch place. I usually frequent very cheap local places, so it’s not like I’m a spoiled tourist, and it’s not as though I don’t know the local offerings. First of all, I have NEVER had a negative interaction with a staff member. Everyone here has been unfailingly polite and kind and helpful. Moreover, the setting is just beautiful and unparalleled in terms of view and as a spot to just hang out for hours if you’d like. No one will ever rush you out, and they will remember you and be happy to see you every time. More importantly, whenever I’ve had a birthday or whatever to celebrate, they’ve gone way out of their way to make it special. The time frame with service might be a little slow, but really, what’s the issue? And the food is more than adequate - maybe not the undiscovered gem you might uncover after being here some time, but I have yet to have a bad meal and the price for what it could be is not offensive. I think I’ve been here over a hundred times over the years, and I’m just mystified bythese negative reviews. Thanks, German Bakery - you’ve seen my kids grow up and have served me many a delicious and sorely needed latte...
Read moreBeing a German resident, I was naturally drawn to this restaurant with my friends who live here only to be the harbinger of a TRAUMATISING experience to my dear friend and her 6-year-old daughter. While in the restroom "someone" knocked on the door and upon learning it is occupied LOCKED it from the outside. It took us 15 minutes to be made aware of this by a kind customer who happened to walk by to hear the frantic sobs of the little girl. Naturally, I went to the guy sitting at the managers desk (Rajesh) who instead of immediately apologizing and expressing concern started indignantly arguing about how that was impossible. We understand that it would be impossible to track down the culprit, however what was intended as a helpful feedback was met with acrimonious and truly disgusting behavior by this staff member. On top of this I agree with anyone who has written here about experiencing racial discrimination and preferential treatment based on the color of your skin or the accent of your "English". In my case however neither my German or English helped in getting a simple apology from this fellow until an elderly employee apologized albeit curtly. This place has proven itself as UNSAFE for WOMEN and also incompetent in handling any issues a...
Read moreThe German bakery and the waves restaurant are one of those new restaurants that sporadically popped up sparkling new after the Covid crunch.
We had a throughly disappointing experience yesterday here; that too even before we got any service.
Two of my cousins and I had visited the place yesterday night around 9pm, to plan and book the restaurant for my son’s Birthday party. The in charge ( a young man in beard ), whose name I couldn’t care to ask after the encounter met us at the lobby.
He was mean, rude and spoke us with no understanding of customer relations. Point blank he said, we can’t promise you anything. ‘Marketing 101’ died ! He said the rains could spoil, and discouraged us from booking. When we insisted he said, look at the menu first and then tell us what you want and pointed us to a menu stand. The final straw was someone should come here and pay tomorrow! ‘Digital India’ laughed at his face ! The restaurant should really train their staff in customer service and relations.
Anyway we decided not to join them and fixed a similar location nearby. For an establishment that is otherwise well known and of good repute...
