If you’re in Calicut and haven’t visited Hotel Rahmath, you’re truly missing out on one of Kerala’s most iconic culinary experiences. This legendary restaurant has been serving up delicious Malabar cuisine for decades, and it continues to live up to its incredible reputation.
From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the irresistible aroma of spices and sizzling dishes being freshly prepared. The ambience may be simple, but the focus here is all about the food—and they absolutely deliver.
🌟 Must-Try Dishes:
Beef Biryani: Undoubtedly one of the best biryanis in Kerala. Perfectly cooked rice, melt-in-the-mouth beef, and a beautiful balance of spices. It's aromatic, flavorful, and consistently satisfying.
Chicken Fry / Beef Fry: Crispy, spicy, and full of flavor. A perfect accompaniment to their biryani or parotta.
Parotta & Curry: The parottas are soft on the inside and crispy on the edges—paired with spicy gravy, it’s comfort food at its best.
Fresh Lime Juice / Mint Lime: Great refresher, especially during the hot afternoons.

Read moreRahmath Restaurant has secured a special place in my dining preferences, particularly for its exceptional Paratha and flavorful Biriyani. These dishes stand out as personal favorites, consistently delivering a satisfying culinary experience. A significant advantage of this establishment is the provision of ample parking space, a welcome convenience that alleviates the common hassle of finding parking, especially in a busy area like its location.
However, like many popular eateries, Rahmath Restaurant faces the challenge of high demand during peak hours. As a patron, I have experienced the difficulty of securing a table during these times, highlighting its popularity and the potential for waiting periods. This rush hour congestion, while indicative of the restaurant's appeal, can be a point of inconvenience for those seeking immediate seating.
The strategic location of Rahmath Restaurant further contributes to its accessibility and popularity. Situated near the Kozhikode Corporation Stadium and the Kozhikode New Bus Station, it is easily reachable for a wide range of customers, including those attending events at the stadium or traveling through the bus station. This proximity to key landmarks makes it a convenient dining option for both locals and visitors to the area.
In conclusion, Rahmath Restaurant excels in the quality of its food, particularly the Paratha and Biriyani, and offers the practical benefit of sufficient parking. While the potential for waiting for a table during peak hours exists due to its popularity and advantageous location near prominent landmarks like the Kozhikode Corporation Stadium and the Kozhikode New Bus Station, the overall experience remains positive, driven by the delicious offerings and...
Read moreWe made an unplanned visit to Rahmath after a beach trip with our small family group, including kids. I had fond memories of visiting this place years ago with my father and brother, but sadly, this recent visit didn’t live up to expectations.
We initially sat in the AC family section on the second floor. While the seating was okay, the attached wash area and restrooms are in desperate need of an upgrade—they looked quite outdated and gave off the vibe of an ordinary budget restaurant.
My sisters also found the lighting uncomfortably dim—more suited for a spa than a family dining space. It was hard to even see each other properly! So, we moved to the regular dining area downstairs.
Service was another letdown. The staff’s attitude felt indifferent—more like a “take it or leave it” approach.
As for the food: • Biriyani (beef and chicken) was a complete disappointment—bland, flavorless, and felt like it was reheated in a microwave. • Noodles were the only hit, especially liked by my wife and daughter. • Paratha with Chicken 65 was decent, nothing special.
Overall, the experience left us dissatisfied. The atmosphere felt neglected, and there were too many signs and notices about payment—which gave the impression that the focus was more on money than customer satisfaction or quality.
To the management: Please consider upgrading the interiors and focusing on the overall dining experience. Rahmath has a legacy, and people expect more than just average food and poor ambiance. If you’re charging premium prices, the service and atmosphere need to reflect that.
This visit was around 7 PM, and sadly, I don’t understand the current hype. Maybe it was better in the past—but now, it seems like the quality has taken a...
