A family dinner which will forever be remembered for all the wrong reasons. We visited the place on 14th July between 7.30-8.30pm.
The restaurant was empty and we were the first ones to arrive. The waiter was dressed shabbily with a casual attire and messed up hair as he just woke up from bed. He directed us to a random seating spot in a very unprofessional manner. And by the way the restraunt was quite dark with a very wrong choice of wall color (quite similar to the batman cave seen in a batman movie).
Unfortunately it so happened that I sat at a spot facing the kitchen side, where I could watch the whole scene unfold. There were a couple of waiters or cooks who were casually sitting on another table, and the seats near the kitchen using their phones. Not to mention the guy who greeted us with a unfriendly smile was also in his phone most of the time. The order was taken from a distance from the table rather than coming near to us. It felt like he had other better work to do.
Although the order took some time to arrive (which is ok), the way how the order arrived is to be spoke about. The plates were clean once it arrived to the table. But then I saw them get another plate I asked for, which was truly disappointing. The same guy brought the plate holding it in one hand and swinging it as though he was casually walking with his arms swinging. Do remember this is the same hand he has been on his mobile for that long. Ok fine! These things may happen in all restaurants, but why show it right in front of our eyes with no level of shame.
We ordered golden fried chicken, which ultimately was chicken bajji. This was our so called starters.
There was one guy who was getting all the dishes from the kitchen in a very unpleasant manner. I do not blame the guy. Atleast he was genuinely interested in serving us unlike the welcoming guy. The servers tray was quite dirty, which I saw while he brought out order to the table.
I am happy I did not see them make the pathri and vellayappam. Else I would have had to write an additional 2 points on that. The fish curry was not that bad, but the chicken biryani was not as great as Top Form.
The dishes we ordered were way too expensive. We ordered 2 wheat parota, 2 half chicken biryanis, 8 pathiri, 1 fish mango curry, 3 vellayappam which totally cost INR 1543. The other day we went to Zaitoon and did order food for the same number of people and the bill came up to INR 1800. By the way we ordered 1 mushroom soup, 1 menchow soup, 1 chicken Caesar salad, 1 noodles, 5 ney pathal, 1 chicken tikka masala, 1 chicken curry, 2 garlic naan, 2 chappatis, and 3 sulaimanis. All this with excellent ambience, top notch service, very clean bathroom, and of course bright lights.
The bathrooms were not that great. However I can shut my eye here, as there are other things to worry about.
We never felt that we had a meal. We wanted to go for desserts but changed out mind.
Nothing may change with this review. But I sure wanted to get this out. We just came home and I still have not changed. I thought, it's better to get this thing out of me as it is still fresh in my mind.

Read moreThis place is an iconic restaurant in Kozhikode that you shouldn’t miss. I have been visiting this restaurant since my childhood with my parents and now today I visited this place after a really long time with my mother, my husband and my daughter 😀 Due to the popularity, you will have to wait a little to get a table especially in the lunch hours. They have A/C seating in the upper floors and proper waiting system where in the staff will note down your name and no. Of members with you and assign you a table accordingly. This place is most famous for their Fish curry Meals and also Biriyani. My mother tried fish curry meals and a fish fry (Ayikora) , I and my husband tried their veg Meals and also Paneer 65. First came piping hot plates, yes they provide well sterilised hot plates here and that’s something very special and unique about this place. Then came our meals with each side dish in separate bowls. Each and every side dish that came with the meals tasted absolutely delicious 🤤 My husband is from the north of India and he also loved every single dish so much. Fish fry and Paneer 65 that we ordered separately was also super good. Over all a 10/10 be it service, crowd management, taste, hygiene and overall quality. Parking is a task here as they have limited parking in the front of the restaurant so we parked under the paid parking area available under the flyover opposite to the restaurant. Not sure if they have any valet parking or other parking...
