Is this restaurant only for people from a particular religion

My family had one of the worst experience at this restaurant in 2022.

I was on vacation in India and had some civil issues at the district court in Alappuzha. I got tied up there and since it was past lunch time, i asked my parents to go home after ordering food at this restaurant

They went to this restaurant, which is on the way to our home, ordered food and was waiting to collect their order near the billing counter

Another customer walks in (Two ladies to be exact) in the traditional attire, covered from head to toe, associated with a particular religion

They walked in and passed by my family waiting to pick up their order. They looked at my family and just uttered one word "Kafir"

My mother and her sister who are about 75 Yrs old was petrified when they heard this comment. They were totally scared and just kept quiet waiting for their order to arrive. When their food arrived they picked up the parcel and just left in a state of total shock

What was more surprising was that the counter staff, in spite of clearly hearing what was said by the two ladies, decided to ignore their comment and kept quite

After reaching home, when this incident was mentioned to me. i was very upset and could feel the hate emanating in that statement made by those two ladies.

But the attitude of the counter staff was very clear and that is what i told my family. "I don't think this restaurant welcomes people from other religion. Let us stay away from such place"

This incident has been haunting me for such a long time. I usually post my reviews very fast. But it took me almost 3 years to decide to post this review.

I have travelled extensively around the world for the last 30 years (though i only post a few reviews) and has experienced multiple cultures and yet this is the only experience that has left me scarred for life.

My recommendation - If you do not belong to a particular religion or are ok with hate crime or venom being spewed against you, then this place is ok. Otherwise...

We were lucky to be there a little bit earlier than the local lunch time because when we were finishing (1.30), the restaurant was absolutely packed and they were several people waiting for seats.

It looked like an upmarket expensive restaurant from outside, but the price was surprisingly affordable. We had the plain rice thali and the portion was huge. There were also many more side dishes than all the previous lunch meals that we have. There was even a clam side dish. All side dishes tasted great. There was also a dessert in the lunch meal. I believe it was Payasam. Anyway, it was amazing. The fish curry comes with a fish fillet not just some curry pouring on top with small pieces. In short, it was the best lunch meal that we had during our trip across 5 different cities in Kerela.

The service was great, fast and efficient. The waiter was really helpful in explaining all the dishes to us.

The value for money of the lunch meal was astounding given the quality of food, the service and the upmarket atmosphere.

I would highly recommend visitors to ALAPPUZHA to try the lunch meal here at least once. They have...

The restaurant has a great ambiance, well designed interiors and decent restroom. The only problem is the food served, which is indeed the main factor for choosing a restaurant. I had a Chicken Biriyani, it was very good and is one of the best I ever had. My friends who ordered veg thali meals were much disappointed and they didn't ate it fully. Not just one, but all of them who ordered meals didn't like it. Also they ordered 'mushroom masala' ans it was also not good. It didn't had salt in it and when we asked the waiter, he brought some salt, but that's not the right solution for that. Also one of them who ordered veg fried rice told that it also didn't had salt in it. He ate only a quarter of what they provided. We almost spent 200-250 per person and definitely that wasn't worth it, except for me as I had CB which was good. Also the restaurant very crowded and people were waiting as all the seats were full.
