"Something Beautiful and Something New" is what Zera Noya means. This is the English translation of this beautiful Hebrew word, and there is no better word to describe this lovely Dutch-based patisserie shop in Kacheripady, Kochi. Their soft launch is currently taking place in "The Croft - Cochin," a premium space in Kacheripady. The shop is also close to the MG Road metro station, which is less than a kilometer away. I came here last Saturday specifically to check out some of their dessert items after seeing a lot of reels on Instagram and YouTube. To be honest, after visiting this shop, I feel both happy and sad. The reason for my happiness is that my long wait for this shop was totally worth it, and the reason for my sadness is that I could only try one of their desserts because there was no space in my stomach for the second one.
âș Menu:
They offer good collection of unique desserts mostly in French and Dutch style. These delectable and luscious desserts are made with premium ingredients imported from European countries, which contribute to their taste, quality, and rich appearance.
On the beverage front, they serve both hot and cold drinks. On the hot side, they have Latte and Cappuccino, while on the cold side, they have a good selection of juices such as Passion Fruit. That's all I could remember, and I'd taken it.
Some of their premium desserts which I could recall are :
Marzipan Mergpijp - Rs 220 Strawberry Sloff - Rs 310 Bookenpootje - Rs 170 Chocolate Cream Truffles - Rs 330 Blueberry Cheese Cake - RS 180 Fresh Fruit Cheese Cake - Rs 220 Caramel Rondo - Rs 250
The names of few dessert items are not easy to remember because they have been given Dutch names. They have provided a brief description of the ingredients in each dessert item.
âșService:
Their hospitality was really great. Staffs were friendly and courteous. They greeted me with a warm smile. Sara is the chief Baker and the main hand behind the preparation of all these desserts. She is of Dutch origin and has got numerous years of experience in baking. The shop is managed by her and her husband. She was also there in the Kitchen assisting her staffs when I visited.
âșAmbiance:
The place is clean and well maintained. People are slowly learning about it due to the recent soft launch, and there were a good number of customers when I visited. As it is located inside the "The Croft - Kochi" space, it gives a cozy and calm ambiance and making it an ideal spot to take your girl friend/wife on a date.
âș Items I tried:
I tried their Marzipan Mergpijp (Rs 220) and Passion Fruit juice (Rs 90). Both were equally good. Passion Fruit juice was served in a glass. Marzipan Mergpijp is one of the best and most highly recommended desserts available here. This item piqued my interest. Marzipan Mergpijp is a cake encapsulated in Marzipan after being dipped in Belgian chocolate and filled with vanilla butter cream and raspberry jam. This what the item is all about and it is a must try from here.
âș Payment:
They accept cash /UPI
âș Cost Factor:
The pricing is quite standard as it is a premium shop and the ingredients they use are of high quality and imported
I will definitely return on my next trip to Kochi to try their other dessert options. I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone should visit this place at least once for their delectable and unique desserts. I am sure that you will not be...

As a coffee aficionado, I was thrilled to discover the first Dutch coffee shop in Cochin, Kerala. Being a city that cherishes its love for coffee, this establishment has managed to capture the essence of European coffee culture. Offering an experience reminiscent of the renowned coffee shops in Europe, it is a delightful addition to Cochin's vibrant coffee scene.
One of the standout features of this Dutch coffee shop is the exceptional quality of their coffee. The beans used are sourced from reputable suppliers, ensuring that every cup is brewed to perfection. From the first sip, I could immediately tell that the coffee was made with care and expertise. The rich aroma, balanced flavors, and smooth texture truly delighted my taste buds.
The menu at this coffee shop is diverse, and they offer a wide range of coffee options. Whether you prefer a classic espresso, a velvety cappuccino, or a flavorful latte, the baristas here are more than capable of delivering your desired cup of java. They also offer a variety of brewing methods, catering to the preferences of coffee enthusiasts who enjoy alternative brewing techniques.
The ambiance of the Dutch coffee shop is charming and inviting. The interior is tastefully designed, with cozy seating arrangements, soft lighting, and a relaxed atmosphere. It provides the perfect setting for enjoying a peaceful morning coffee or engaging in conversations with friends. The friendly and knowledgeable staff further enhances the overall experience, as they are always ready to assist in recommending the perfect coffee based on your preferences.
While the quality of the coffee is undoubtedly commendable, it would be remiss not to mention the delectable treats available to complement your beverage. From freshly baked pastries to mouthwatering sandwiches, the food offerings at this coffee shop are equally satisfying. The flavors and presentation are a testament to the attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
However, as a new establishment, there is still room for improvement. The menu could be expanded with more specialty coffee options, and introducing some Dutch-inspired coffee creations would add a unique touch to the experience. Additionally, the pricing is on the normal side compared to local coffee shops, but considering the quality and European influence, it is reasonable.
In conclusion, the first Dutch coffee shop in Cochin has successfully brought a taste of Europe to this bustling city. The amazing coffee, European ambiance, and delectable treats make it a worthy destination for coffee lovers seeking an authentic and high-quality experience. With a few minor adjustments, this coffee shop has the potential to become an iconic destination for coffee...
Read moreWe came across this beautiful place on a Saturday Afternoon while driving around Kochi with friends and family. It's a nicely tucked in space, in the Croft buildings, right in the centre of the city yet wonderfully away from the hustle & bustle of the crowded city. Zera Noya, is a very welcoming and classy dining space, with well maintained surroundings and a few nice shops exuding a class not normally seen in Kochi. Their bakery is awesome & modern with a decent variety of carefully curated menu - each item in it was in a class of its own. The best thing was, the goodies were all freshly baked to perfection, neither too sweet nor too spicy - just with the right flavours to satiate the hunger of any discerning foodie looking to consume nothing but the very best. The baking at Zera Noya vies with some of the very best that we have had in Europe esp those in Netherlands and Germany - at extremely affordable Indian prices. There are a wide variety of items both for vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. Their Almond Croissants and butter Croissants were beautifuly layered and light n fluffy. So were their pastries, cakes, sandwiches, rolls and buns. Both the artisanal bread and sourdough breads were very nice indeed. We dined in & also took away a few delectable items nicely packed for our folks back home too. The staff was extremely polite, friendly, efficient and very prompt in their service. The clientele who visited through the afternoon that we spend there were predominantly polite & well heeled ladies with happy children. The area in & around offers a serene sense of calmness and offers understated security. Together with the Gelato icecream shop of theirs, right adjacent, it is a wonderful place for spending quality time with friends and family. Strongly recommended!!!
One little suggestion to the management- you may consider opening a few more garden umbrellas, esp on Saturdays and Sundays for additional seating even in the lawns adjacent. Parking is an issue that needs a bit of thought. The entry from the bylane needs a bit of management too.
Overall WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR TIME SPEND AT ZORA NOYA!
