Some places are discreetly beautiful tucked in some lane somewhere - this is one such quaint cafe - beautifully & aesthetically designed indeed based on music and musicians from around the world - a colourful eatery gives you an instant positive vibe the moment you step in..

The compact menu looked amazingly delicious and had quite a few unique items on the same - me being me - eternally adventurous when it come to food went for those items as expected..

#StrawberryFrappuccino : I have had chocolate and strawberry together as a shake earlier but who would have thought that you can mix coffee with strawberry.. This is sheer ❤️ if you are into strawberries and coffee as well - ticked both the boxes for me - I loved it - it could be an acquired taste for you though..

#BlackChicken - The second place in town which serves this delicacy - I have had #Kadaknath before and was a fan of this particular breed of chicken already hence didn't think twice before ordering this one here as well - very well presented with delicious garlic breads but unfortunately, it was a slight let down for me bcz the meat seemed to be under cooked or not well marinated which resulted it to be quite a chewy affair - I genuinely feel it was those one off misses by the chef on that particular day..

#CheeseBakedChickenLegs : I am a hardcore beef & pork addict - infact, chicken for me is almost like vegetable these days - but hey, this particular chicken dish turned out to be the black horse indeed - it was super yummy ❤️ - the chicken was well marinated and perfectly cooked - the baking with loads of cheese took this delicacy to a different level altogether..

#BACONBROWNIE : Yes, you read that right - they actually serve a melted 🥓 brownie as dessert - the name itself was appealing enough for me to order the same and thank god, I did - this one is nothing but #porkgasm at it's very best ❤️ - it takes guts to present bacon, melted brownie, chocolate sauce, butter, wafers & icecream together as a piping hot dessert and yet, they do it day in day out - the result is simply incredible to say the least - every spoon of bacon & brownie alongwith tinge of chocolate takes you on a heavenly ride forever.. Kudos to the team for taking the challenge of introducing a #porkdessert and executing the same bloody well..

Thanks a ton dear Sanchari & Armit for your gracious & warm hospitality - loved the adda alongwith the delicious food - can't wait to come back again soon.. 😍😍🤝🤝

P.S: They already have an outlet running successfully at #Shibpur (Howrah) for the past two years and this one beside a lane(in sync with the name) at #SaratBoseRoad is their second and comparatively a new outlet..

My humble two cents: #MUSTTRY..

Heard a lot about this cafe, so went to this place on Saptami night for dinner. We were asked that the waiting time is one hour and by that we will get out table. We were excited and waited for it. It was much quicker on their part, we got table under 30 mins. Now, when we were called in we were asked to sit in a middle placed chair, the seat wasn't very comfortable, I was waiting to ask them if we could move to another place. All the tables were full, so I waited. We weren't even asked for water in the mid time. I saw a group of 4 people leaving the sofa bed place, I immediately called them and asked to be shifted they said it was a place for 4 people and can't let 2 people occupy it. Which is understandable. In the next few minutes I saw a couple coming in and take that 4 seater table. We ordered our food, I will come that later but in the mean time I saw a side two table seater was wrapping up, so I again asked if we could shift to that, we were said that they have already told someone outside about the place and it is for them. I didn't understand how someone who hasn't been inside understood which table was emptying but I will leave that too. Going back to the ordering, while we ordered the conversation was pretty tiresome, no help from the guy who was there. I have been to places and interacted with the staff too, I just felt it was very unwelcoming.

We ordered two main dishes pan-fried fish and the fish in lemon butter sauce. For drinks we ordered 2 mojitos. He went back came back for the order in the next table, it was like 2-3 mins probably I asked if one mojito can be cancelled and a ice tea in place of that. He came back and said it was already made.

I understand the hardwork and passion involved in this buisness but I am experienced enough to understand if something was off. Probably it was due to the pujo days.

But I just want to say if the people working aren't warm the whole experience of this becomes very void.

The food was well prepared. The fish was cooked to the perfection, I definitely enjoyed the pan-fried fish. But the mojito...

Café By The Lane is one of the cutest cafés I have visited till date. From the moment I stepped out of the car I was drawn towards it. The decor starts right from outside. I am in love with guitar (though I can't play it) and the first thing I notice is the name of the café on a Guitar at the entrance. As I step into the café the vintage British decor engulfs my entire being. There is an English Telephone booth in the corner. I could hear the sound of piano from the next room. I absolutely fell in love with this cafe.

As far as food is concerned, they have a lot of fusion food. Belgian chocolate frappe was good with a hint of bitter chocolate taste. The fries (chicken, fish, prawns and french fries) platter was delicious. Tibetian Momo in continental chicken broth was a fusion dish.. The broth and the chicken stuffing was tasty but the Momo coating was tough. Garlic cheese toast was delicious. Their speciality, Cheese baked chicken legs dish was delicious too.

The owner, a musician by himself was taking our orders and also recommending what we must order... a friendly charming young guy. A lady who is the PR was very friendly and pleasant too.. loved talking to them.

They have a few weekday offers, two of which caught my attention. One of the offer is on Monday/Wednesday/Friday between 2pm to 5pm for people to come and chill indoors without ordering anything. It's like a place to sit/rest away from hot sun and work in peace. The other offer is again on Monday and it is ‘Pass your coffee’, whereby your coffee is already paid by a customer and if you wish you can pay for coffee for another person. This is something unique I have come across in a café in Kolkata.

Their customers are free to play the piano or guitar if they so wish to.

I can probably write on and on... but you gotta see the pictures to know what I am talking about. So here are the pictures.

It is located in a bylane. . It is not wheelchair friendly which I pointed out. They said they will look into it and do...
