Café Kathmandu situated near #MenokaCinema has always been on my radar since the day it opened when I was out of town unfortunately - finally managed to drop in for the first time a couple of days ago and I am super glad I did so.. Although they had opened just before lockdown but now it's kind of a fresh start again for them due to obvious reasons..
Exotic yet aesthetic is how best I can describe this pretty big cafe spread over three seperate seating areas - all designed uniquely in terms of decor and furniture.. The main entrance and the corridor deserves a special mention - feels like grandeur personified.. High ceilings and appropriate lighting adds to the overall spacious look and feel.. You can't help but fall in love instantly with those numerous Nepali traditional hanging puppets all around the space.. Prices are extremely economical and service is prompt.. Ofcourse, they are following all #safety protocols to the tee most importantly..
We relished on a lot of items from their elaborate menu and loved whatever we tried.. Right from the #cappuccino & #caramelcoldcoffee (they have already made a name for themselves for the brilliant #HimalayanCoffee that they serve and sell to thier patrons - 100% Arabica Beans) to #ButterCookies (probably the #best I have ever had anywhere till date - every sjngle bite gives your tastebuds an everlasting buttery feel 😋), #chocochipcookies, #ChickenMomos, #GrilledChickenSandwich, #WaiWaiSandeko (loved this #Nepali chatpata version of our age old wai wai), #ChocolatebrowniewithIcecream, #chocolatemousse and that unique #AhaMithoGato - an improvised Nepali version of Affogato - delicious to the tee..
Thank you dear Priyank for the company.. 🤝
Missed meeting you this time dear Raju da but that should happen hopefully soon.. Thank you dear Varsha di for your gracious hospitality - your positivity is infectious - it was lovely meeting you and wish you and team all the best for this one - can't wait to come back again soon.. 😍

Read moreThe café exudes a cozy Kathmandu ambiance, highlighted by old photos of Kathmandu, distinctive door knobs, and a Bhairava mask adorning the walls. The layout is thoughtfully designed within an old building, adding to its charm.
The beverages we tried were exceptional. The Cortado was a perfect blend of espresso and steamed milk; the Cold Brew was smooth and refreshing; and the Sunkissed Summer had a delightful, summery twist. All were simple yet flavorful, without any fuss.
The coffee selection features Arabica beans from Nepal, sourced from two origins: Lamjung and Nuwakot. They offer a range of regular coffee beverages and various manual brews. The in-house bakery regularly updates its offerings, including three types of eggless cookies, along with cheesecakes, muffins, and seasonal bakes that are particularly noteworthy.
P.S. They also sell coffee beans from both origins and grind them instantly as per your preference.
The food is both delicious and excellent value for money. We began with the Tomato Basil Soup paired with an in-house salad, which was wholesome (check for availability before ordering). For starters, we enjoyed the Fish Fingers with potato wedges, Fried Momos, and C Momo (a specialty from Kathmandu). For the main course, we opted for Pan-Seared Chicken, Spaghetti Aglio Olio, and Chicken Stroganoff Rice Bowl. All dishes were of high quality and served promptly.
For dessert, we ordered Cheesecakes with Mango and Tiramisu Cheesecake as per recommendations, and hands down, it was so delicious.
The service team is friendly and always ready to assist with any queries. Do not hesitate to inquire about their coffee selections and bakery items. Overall, our dining experience was excellent, and the addition of the Thakali menu is a delightful enhancement. We can’t wait to try their Thakali menu on our next visit.
Indeed, this café offers "a touch of Nepal" in Kolkata/Calcutta. Highly...
Read moreMy first visit at this place was just a coincidence because of cancelled plans and I'm so grateful that I discovered this place. Their mixtape consists of my favourite songs, all soothing and peaceful. When I entered the cafe, I was instantly greeted a "Good Evening" by the staff, when I walked inside the seating area, the owner's husband too greeted me and left his sofa seat for my comfort. It indeed was a very delightful gesture. These people serve two types of coffee, the usual and the Arabica coffee. I had ordered both of them, the usual coffee's Americano and a premium cold brew. The exact moment when I sipped the cold brew, gave my tongue an ultimate pleasure. That taste is not forgetful. The low caffeine just hits the right spot. I have tasted coffee from various places but this cafe gave me something I needed and I value it with all of my heart. I had also ordered a plate of croissant sandwich (egg and mayo). To my surprise, coffee is not only the thing these guys make the best, but also the food. It just makes my stomach happy at a whole new level. The croissant was soft, little crispy and not chewy at all- just like it should be, the eggs were correctly boiled , very toothsome. Halfway through my experience at this brasserie, the owner came in to greet me. She is a woman of good nature, a true coffee enthusiast. We had a good chat about coffee varieties and this cafe's existence. She had a very positive impact on my visit to this cafe. The bill did hurt my pocket a little, but I would say the experience here was definately worth it. Sitting in this cafe, having a good cup of coffee, while reading a book or working helps my mind relax. I attained Nirvana without even going to Kathmandu. 5 stars...
