Wokies — Restaurant in Kolkata

Presenting to you all - #WOKIES - India's first & probably world's seventh #twodimensionalrestaurant - situated bang opposite #MenokaCinema - a couple of months ago I was the one who #exclusively covered them during pre opening and opening day for the #first time on social media - time to talk about them slightly more in detail today 💯

What's unique about this restaurant is the fact that it creates an illusional optic reality the moment you step in - everything right from the walls to the furniture has an unique two dimensional look and feel to it - everytime you look around - you tend to be transformed to a different space altogether than what it was like outside that main door - stark white walls with an all black wall art creates a monochromatic contrast that is unlike anything that you may have experienced before - what adds to the fact is the art deco style architecture of the property - the circular shape & the focused lighting complements the ambience to the hilt - I also love the small but cosy outdoor section as well.. Even the washroom is in sync with the overall theme..

Having said everything about the look and feel of this amazing restaurant - let's also talk a bit about the most important factor - #food - shall we!!

Whether you are a coffee lover or not - you must try the #TurkishCoffee without fail out here - the only place in Kolkata where you can lay your hands on one and they import it from the oldest Turkish coffee shop of #Istanbul which is more than 150 years old - one needs to take one sip of coffee followed by one sip of water accompanied by a sweet condiment to balance your tastebuds - you need to try this unique coffee to understand the excellent feel and taste of the same..

They also serve other beverages like the #ChineseGreenTea in cute looking tea pots and cups plus I also loved the quintessential #IcedMocha - thick & loaded with chocolate just like I love it..

For starters, we gorged on #ThreadChicken (unique mini chicken rolls with a crispy wrap), #PrawnHargao (look like a dumpling but with a transparent layer) & #PorkSumoMomo (as the name suggests - these are extra large momos) & the #GrilledPorkSalad..

Main course included #StirfriedNoodleswithWholeChicken (absolute gastronomical delight), #HoneyGlazedPrawns, #KoreanBibimbap (the best I have tasted in town), #NasiGorengRice, #SpiderChicken (an innovative delicacy where chicken chunks are wrapped around with crispy noodles in a spider formation thus justifying the name) & last but not the least & certainly my personal favourite too - #WinniesMagicPortion - this is indeed a magical dish and certainly this is the only place where you lay your hands on one - an overload of shredded chicken on an egg custard base - an absolute gastronomical ecstasy..

From the desserts section - we tried #FriedIcecream & #HotChocolateRollswithIcecream - both were sheer bliss and a perfect match to end a grand meal on a high..

Let's enter to the two dimensional world to experience some exquisite Chinese dishes and some top notch ambience Wok'ies is the World's first hand crafted 2D themed monochromatic resturant newly launched in our city of joy. It is located at Rabindra Sarovar, just beside Menoka cinema and has a seating arrangement of approx 30 people having both indoor & outdoor seating options. It had buzz trendy place and why not,just you enter into this beautiful property you will get fooled by the black & white design which is quite eccentric & different inspired by comic World. Coming to the safety measures they are taking, at first just entering we gone through thermal check & then we were sanitized our hands. Secondly they were serving food in disposable plates,cutlery,glass & lastly every staffs were using face shields & masks while serving & cooking. you will definitely have a safe & secure experience out here with all safety guidelines being taking care of. Now the food that we tried are: Three pepper mushroom Roasted chilli pork Grilled pork salad Fried chicken wontons Spider chicken Stir fried chicken with whole chicken Honey glazed prawn All the food were equally delicious and among them stir fried noodle with chicken was the show stopper, definitely a must try here. Also roasted chilli pork & fried chicken wontons were also one of a kind, the spider chicken was so crisp and unique that had a juicy soft chicken in it with a cover alike of spider web.we also tried spinach & corn fried rice which complemented well with the tangy honey glazed prawn. The rice was well cooked & the fusion of sweet corn with spinach was just too perfect. The tender prawns were also decent in size & was well cooked and you will feel the essence of honey in it. Finally after this delicious feast we were offered with Chinese green tea as a complementary beverage. Overall I enjoyed a lot with wonderful hospitality & good soft music our here. The price is a bit high though (approx 900+ for two) compaired to the portions but the quality they provide is highly commendable. They are also giving a 10% introductory offer so hurry up! and yes don't forget to click some selfies and portraits here cause if you miss then you might regret later untill you...

First 2d restaurant in kolkata... Not a very big place but has a good ambience... Temperature checking and sanitizing is done before sitting... Most people is getting hyped by their ambience but when it comes to talking about a restaurant both ambience and food matters... Now coming to the dishes I tried:

1. Winn's magic potion : Its mostly a layer of water boiled egg with some small prawns in it and small chickens put in the centre and topped with some spring onions... Quantity seems to be much but its not...
2. Drunken noodles : These are some spicy rice noodles tossed with chickens and veggies and wine.. I liked this dish... Quantity and taste was good
3. Pork in chilly corn sauce : This is a dish of sliced pork made in chilly corn sauce... Taste was good and quantity was moderate
4. Spider chicken : Now this dish was also recommended by everyone... I personally didnt like this dish because its just a piece of chicken wrapped with noodles and the piece of chicken was soo small as if it wasn't there even.. They serve approx 6 pieces of these chicken wrapped with fried noodles and the sauce that was put over them was very spicy... Over all i didnt like this much because of less chicken..
5. Wothib : These are some chicken momos... I liked this preparation.. The momos very steamed and then pan fried and then tossed in sesame oil... It had a smoky flavour which i liked the most...

Now overall I my experience here was moderate because of the high price compared to the quantity they serve... Having all these my bill was approx 1250/-... So its a bit...
