CAFE BOWBAZAR — Restaurant in Kolkata

As an ardent coffee drinker, I had been exploring the bunch of new cafes that have found their way into Kolkata in the last couple of years. While the busy College St and Bowbazar area usually sees passerby either looking for a quick cup of tea or that sherbet or that hot fried snack while continuing their exploration of the book shops and jewellers in the surrounding. Little did I know that I will find a cafe in the most unusual part of my city. Google suggested me of this place and I thought to give it a go. The place will strike at the first glance with that giant wallpaper of the Victoria Memorial that also served as a great backdrop for my photos. Coming to the food experience - I also being on a run, only needed to satiate my coffee craving so ordered only a latte. The coffee was wonderful and strong, just the way I like it. So a 10/10 on coffee. Ambience - you wouldn’t expect an expansive cafe in this location so be prepared to sit inside a cosy upstairs seating area. Staff - So warm and welcoming! Visited with a friend today. And here's my review of the place.

Location & Ambience - Easy to find as its situated just by the road. The inside is well lit, cozy and the ACs were cooling the place nicely. The space utilisation is something I found very interesting. Good job done by the owner.

Food - We ordered 2 mocktail and classic fries combo along with a chicken pizza. I felt the mocktail was slightly over-sweetened, since the person taking the order asked our preferences and we specified it to be normal sweetness. Well I guess sweetness varies. But it tasted good. The fries were good as well, nothing to describe about them. The pizza, yes this one was better than my expectations. Usually cafes serve a greasy or oily pizza. But here, to my surprise it smelled fresh and looked healthy with a lot veggies. The chicken pieces could have been a little more. However, it tasted good. Mocktail - 7/10 Fries - 6/10 Pizza - 8/10

Hospitality - The person was very polite and friendly. Got our food within 10 mins. No complaints about anything. So 10/10

Payment - They are offering discount on orders over ₹350 or so.. Accepting both cash and UPI.

If you are looking for a quick-bites place, then this is it. Now about the food— Cheesy French fries, as usual cheese on fries with some spices, good food nothing over the top Momo, I expected a little better but it was decent, not so bad Pizza - again very normal , decent pizza. It is made with the pizza bread.

The food items are something you frequently eat and it's nothing out of the world but it's good if you want good quality food.

About the place, I won't exactly say cozy in a good way. The place itself is pretty small, like we were a group of 3 people who kind of struggled to sit together with our legs touching and very limited space on the small tables. Like food + phone covered the whole area of the table. Plus we spent a good hour listening to someone rant because the tables were kind of close to each other
