Spice Kraft has always been one of my favorite places in Kolkata when it comes to good food, cozy ambience, and impeccable service. Every visit feels like a treat for the senses, and this time was no exception. Nestled in the heart of Ballygunge, this restaurant continues to impress with its innovative menu, warm hospitality, and attention to detail that elevates every dining experience.
I have always loved visiting this place for the delicious food they serve, and on my recent visit, I decided to explore some of their most talked-about continental delicacies — Baked Fish Wellington, Chicken Stroganoff, and Coq-au-Vin. Each dish reflected the chef’s artistry and passion for cooking, making the meal truly memorable.
The Baked Fish Wellington was nothing short of spectacular. A perfectly baked parcel of flaky fish encased in a golden puff pastry, served with a creamy sauce that complemented the delicate flavors beautifully. The fish was moist, tender, and full of flavor, while the pastry had just the right crispness. It was plated so elegantly that it was almost too beautiful to eat — but once you take that first bite, you simply can’t stop.
Next came the Chicken Stroganoff, a hearty and comforting dish that hit all the right notes. The chicken pieces were cooked to perfection, enveloped in a rich and creamy mushroom sauce with just the right balance of herbs and seasoning. This classic European dish was done justice to, maintaining authenticity while adding a touch of Spice Kraft’s signature flair. A special mention goes to Rahul, one of the staff members, who recommended this dish — and I must say, it turned out to be my favorite of the evening. His friendly nature, attentive service, and thoughtful suggestion truly added to the overall dining experience.
The Coq-au-Vin was another standout. Tender chicken cooked slowly in red wine with mushrooms, onions, and herbs — it was deep, flavorful, and beautifully aromatic. The sauce had a luxurious texture and a depth that spoke of hours of patient cooking. It’s not often that one finds such a well-executed French classic in the city, but Spice Kraft nailed it.
To accompany the meal, we tried a few drinks. The Kokum Mocktail was truly extraordinary — refreshing, tangy, and slightly spiced, it was the perfect palate cleanser between the rich dishes. It stood out as the drink of the evening with its unique flavor profile and vibrant presentation. On the other hand, the Virgin Mojito and Fresh Lime Soda were fairly average — refreshing enough but lacking the spark or distinctiveness of the Kokum drink.
The ambience of Spice Kraft, as always, added to the experience — cozy lighting, soothing décor, and a relaxed yet classy vibe that makes you want to linger. The staff were attentive, courteous, and quick to serve without being intrusive.
Overall, this visit reaffirmed why Spice Kraft remains one of Kolkata’s most loved dining spots. Whether you’re in for continental delights, comforting classics, or simply a good meal with great company, this restaurant never disappoints. I left with a happy heart, a satisfied appetite, and every intention to return soon to explore more from their...
Read moreHello people! So today i would be reviewing Spice Kraft which is based in Ballygunge, beside the Hazra Law College.
This particular restaurant to me, has great ambience. I loved the interior and it is quite spacious, though at first look it didn't seem to be. The whole place was nicely decorated with pretty wall hangings, soft lights and great music.
The staff were very helpful and informative. They knew well what they were serving.
Now coming to the food...let me tell you guys, all the prices are exclusive of GST, which makes it a bit expensive...but thats fine.
DRINKS AND STARTES ● Daiquiri(Rs 276) it is a combination of Bacardi White , Lime juice and cane sugar. So the flavors of all the three made it taste mind blowing. A must try.
● Beer Can Tempura Fish (Rs 245) a dish of fish cut into long pieces and deep fried, was presented in a long wooden tray with an old beer can as the name says. The dip was excellent.
● Dajaj Charmoula (Rs 225) a dish of chicken leg piece. There were 4 in a plate and were presented in a marble pot with a slice of cucumber. The taste is like a smokey grilled one and to me a bit sour as i guess lime juice was sprinkled. Though the dip was uninteresting.
● Murg Zarka Tikka (Rs 225) This was my favorite among all the starters. The chicken was very juicy and was very soft. I loved the way it was presented. So a big thumbs up for the perfect tikka kebab.
THE MAIN COURSE... ● Mixed Fried Rice (Rs 195) it was not at all oily and had big chunks of chicken and egg. The veggies were not over done.
●Schezwan Fish (Rs 245) Again a dish of fish with a tangy taste and the fish was cooked very well. Kind of like chilli fish but with a twist.
Lastly, DESSERT...
●Beyond Fried Icecream (Rs 195)It was my first time experience with Fried Icecream and i must say that it was amazing. The icecream was crunchy from outside whereas soft and chilled from inside with a little bit of brownie and a cherry on top and once again the presentation was perfect...so you would wanna take a bite of all the layers together.
I would end my review saying , had a lovely experience at Spice Kraft... I would categorize it under slight expensive restaurant. Nevertheless the food was excellent i would recommend everyone to visit this place...

Took my family for the first time. They loved it. Appreciated the uniqueness of the Entrees as well as the main courses.
Entrees : ~ Red Pepper prawn (6pcs) : Crispy, tangy, spicy prawns in skewers! [4.5/5]
~ Beer battered tempura fish (6pcs) : Crispy, crunchy, moist fish inside! The Orange Tartar sauce is a perfect companion! [4.5/5]
~ Dajaj Charmoula (4pcs) : Chicken(Dajaj) grilled in charmoula marinade, served aesthetically. Non spicy, soft and tender. [3.9/5]
~ Sarson Wali Macchi (6pcs) : Aromatic and soft. However, the portion size could have been more. Too small a bite to appreciate it properly. [3.5/5]
MAIN Courses: ~ Lobster thermidor : Ordered especially for my father. Buttered rice and sauteed vegetables (lots of carrots, i guess they ran out of other veggies!) Typical thermidor. [4.0/5]
{Mocambo is better regarding the thermidor, but they do charge nearly double the price}
~ Grilled fish with lemon butter sauce : nice hint of butter and garlic although a bit more citrus flavour would have done wonders (seafood and citrus!!). Well made. [4.2/5]
~ Laal Maas : Heard a lot about this Rajasthan origin mutton preparation. I didn't try it personally, but family said :- tender mutton, different but tasty gravy. [4.2/5]
~ Tandoori roti : Butter tandoori roti, slightly smaller in size and thinner! Does it's job. [3/5]
~ Lucknow Chicken Dum Biryani : Now , this was a let down for me personally! It isn't Lucknow biryani according to what I have tasted @other restaurants as well as from Lucknow. Neither does it by any means comes close Kolkata biryani. 2 average size chicken and an Egg. [2.5/5]
**Some items in their Zomato menu are no longer being offered now (especially the...
