Well i can safely recommend this place to anyone who loves chinese foods. But don't expect something like wow experience, the main reason i am recommending this place because of several reasons. Almost reasonable pricing, heavy portion size and very authentic taste also you can opt this place instead of Chinatown's ober budget over hyped options. Now full review. We ordered quite a few items First lung fung soup again the portion size was good and the soup itself is very filling for any single person we couldn't try out chimney soup because it serves 4 easily. Then we ordered garlic chicken and shezwan chicken in the side dish and main dish we went for rice noddles (meifoon) and fried rice. In gravy item garlic chicken was plain and can have anyone but shezwan chicken gravy is spicy thats why we order that to pair up with meifoon. Meifoon noddles are the lightest tastiest. Its ny mew love among Chinese dishes.but here i found meifoon little bit burned which I dont like. So with sezwan you can pair meifoon and fried rice was alone is very good you need to pair anything with it still if you want you can go for their best selling item chilie chicken. Again i need to talk about their portion its good and 5-6 people can eat under 2000 and there belly will be full. But don't look for WOW experience you will not have it. I am uploading pictures and menu cards also. Please have a look, you may find it helpful. Very soon i ll come up with another review till then stay safe, eat healthy And thank you for reading my review. Do...
Read moreThis Chinese hidden gem was on my wish list for long time. Finally visited and got impressed by the ambience. Nice family Chinese restaurant, broad menu, authentic to mix dishes. But the food quality and pricing felt bit odd.
Chimney Soup Small @ Rs.350 (4/5) Probably the healthier soup after Chicken Clear Soup in Chinese Cuisine. Apart from its serving style in special pot, it tastes same like Clear soup with lot more meat, prawns, eggs, mushroom, vegetables and mei foon. Small portion is enough to fill five bowls and
Chicken Sizzler @ Rs.280 (3/5) Saw everyone in the restaurant ordering this so ordered it. Coated chicken pieces simply tossed in sweet and sour Chinese sauce with carrot capsicum onion and chilli served in a sizzler plate. Tasted okay but nothing spectacular.
Roast Chilli Pork @ Rs.370 (2/5) Meaty and fatty flavours of the pork was being dominated by burned oil taste. Too much soya sauce was used and it tasted little bitter. I was expecting it much better but somehow very disappointed.
Too much price for the portion served. I think Dley, Tung Nam, Rinki serves way better Roast Chilli Pork, almost same quantity for around Rs.230.
Conclusion Nu Wan Li serves good Chinese food for South Kolkata people who haven't explored China Town and Tiretti area. But who knows these areas will probably not visit them...
Read moreThis review is an honest, unpaid account of my experience. When you arrive, you’ll often find the restaurant door closed and locked from the inside, creating a false impression of being overly busy or crowded. Despite appearing open, they may turn you away, claiming they are closed for the day and cannot take more orders. This tactic seems designed to create an illusion of high demand.
The highly praised chimney pot soup, which is heavily promoted, is quite pricey and unfortunately doesn’t live up to the hype. It’s far from exceptional and not worth the cost. The rest of the menu is average, offering dishes that are standard fare in other Chinese restaurants in the Tangra area/China Town.
Nothing particularly stands out in terms of flavor or quality. It’s apparent that most customers are drawn in by the attractive reels and reviews created by food bloggers rather than personal recommendations.
The restaurant’s popularity seems to be fueled more by social media buzz than genuine culinary excellence. If you’re looking for an authentic and worthwhile dining experience, you might want to explore other options...
