WayPoint Cafe — Restaurant in Kolkata

I took my mother here to celebrate her birthday. The place is cozy and the ambience is understated and perfect, not in your face. We ordered juice and potato wedges to start off. The juice was freshly made and the wedges were delightful. Next it was time for the main course. I ordered a lamb lasagna while mom had something similar but vegetarian. THIS was when we were truly blown away. The dishes were loaded with flavour, succulent and truly something else. We wrapped up with Chocolate Babka and brownies. The brownie was sent complimentary (A very sweet gesture on the part of the restaurant, for mummy's birthday). The chocolate babka was parcelled because well, we'd overestimated our appetites. Ambience: Large tables with comfortable seating, perfect lighting, tastefully decorated.

Service: Very prompt and helpful, pleasant staff. Filtered drinking water available. Clean toilet.

Ordered: Hazelnut Mocha cold: average taste, like a regular cold coffee. Rs 260 Jacket Potato with Minced Lamb and Chili Jam: well made, tasty stuffing inside the potato, dip was very good. Rs 295 Apple Pie Waffle with Salted Caramel Sauce and Icecream: freshly made waffles, topping of caramel diced apples, scoop of vanilla ice-cream, excellent taste. Rs 325 Mandarin Mocha Coffee hot: average taste, no taste of mandarin. Rs 265

Overall I like this cafe. The ambiance is excellent and a fun place to sit and enjoy and afternoon. Their food overall is also really good. Their chicken sandwich was excellent and I really enjoyed their iced mocha. That being said, their French toast special wasn't very good. I found the bread doughy and uneven and the creme cheese tasted a bit weird. It's the main line reason I dropped a star.

The service at waypoint feels decidedly slow. Staff are polite and nice but aren't proactive. We had to ask multiple times for water refills and the meal came out very slowly. I found it to be a bit of a pattern, and while not a deal breaker, it feels like a point that...
