Why Zam Zam? If you're looking for great Biryani, that probably you're if you're in Park Circus area, you've multiple reputed brands like Arsalan, Royal, Zeeshan etc.
But if you notice in last 2 years every brand has increased their prices to sky high. Now every other Biryani is in the price bracket of Rs.300-450 for Chicken and Mutton both. It's not far away that a plate of Biryani will cost Rs.1000 or more.
This is not due to inflation rather its because of high marketing and the brand name. They know people will pay whatever they charge. Hence its becoming luxury day by day.
Zam Zam also being a reputed Biryani brand is serving good if not the best Biryani for almost 3/4th of the price and they usually keep their prices stable. They've good ambiance and some brilliant specialists to try.
Burhani @ Rs.25 (4/5) You don't get Burhani as a starter drink everywhere. Their Burhani is quite balanced served cold and opens taste buds.
Beef Malai @ Rs.100 (5/5) If you're coming to Zam Zam then don't miss this dish. We tried it with Tandoori Roti and their Rotis are quite filling. Brilliantly cooked solid Beef pieces in mild white gravy this dish is simply incredible.
Beef Biryani @ Rs.130 (4/5) There's always something special about Zam Zam's Biryani. Enough portion, good quality rice, brilliantly soft meat, soft potato and very prominent taste. For the price you can't complain.
Mutton Biryani @ Rs.210 (3/5) Do remember they cook Beef and Mutton Biryani separately so the taste, fragrance and color differs little bit from their Beef Biryani. Just the Mutton piece could have been better.
Mutton Pasinda @ Rs.230 (2/5) We did a mistake by ordering this dish, as the portion felt very very low. It was served on a flat plate, boneless keema mutton pieces in oily gravy didn't really impressed much.
Don't know about others but increase of price of those big brands by Rs.20-40 every month has somehow became very frustrating to me. Once restaurants used to recall customers by focusing on food quality, but now a days it has become just marketing, blogging, and fooling. Hope Zam Zam will hold its purity and not get...
Read more🌟 Honest Review: Zam Zam Restaurant, Park Circus Branch – A Major Letdown 🌟
I had recently visited Zam Zam Restaurant’s Park Circus branch with high expectations, especially since it’s often touted as a popular destination for Mughlai and biryani lovers in Kolkata. However, my experience turned out to be deeply disappointing, and I feel compelled to share a detailed review for those considering dining here.
🥘 Food Quality – 1/5
Let me start with the most crucial aspect — the biryani. To put it bluntly, it was extremely ordinary — lacking flavor, aroma, and finesse. It neither had the rich spices one expects from a Kolkata-style biryani nor the subtle ghee and saffron notes. It felt like something you’d get at a low-tier roadside stall, not a reputed restaurant.
The mutton in the biryani was perhaps the worst part. It was completely undercooked — tough, chewy, and almost inedible. It clearly hadn’t been slow-cooked or marinated properly, which is shocking for a place that claims to serve traditional Mughlai food. Biryani is as much about the meat as it is about the rice, and they failed miserably on both fronts.
🍮 Dessert – 0/5
As if the main course wasn’t bad enough, we made the mistake of ordering dessert. What we got was clearly stale and unappetizing. It lacked freshness, and the texture was soggy and weird. It felt like something that had been sitting in the fridge for days. For a restaurant of this size, serving expired or stale sweets is simply unacceptable and unhygienic.
🧾 Value for Money – 1/5
Given the poor quality of food, the pricing felt absolutely unjustified. One expects a satisfying, flavorful meal when dining out, but this was a complete waste of money. Even street vendors serve better-tasting and properly cooked biryani at a fraction of the cost.
👎 Overall Experience – 1/5
The entire meal was a huge letdown. I had heard about Zam Zam’s fame, but perhaps this branch is riding on past glory or reputation built elsewhere. In reality, the food quality here was subpar, careless, and not at all worth the hype.

⚠️ Final Verdict:
Avoid the Park Circus branch of Zam Zam if you’re a true biryani lover. There are far better places in Kolkata where you can enjoy flavorful, well-cooked Mughlai cuisine. This was, sadly, one of the worst biryani experiences I’ve had...
