The Irish House, Kolkata — Restaurant in Kolkata

One of the most popular places in Kolkata for a mug/bottle of chilled beer and awesome lipsmacking food. Located on the 4 th floor of Quest Mall just beside Bombay Brasserie, this one is a small cozy decent pub with okayish Irish ambience inside. The staff are okay and the person at the front to greet you could have been happier and I wish the staff smiled more often. The price point is a bit expensive given the location, ie , top floor of Quest Mall sharing the restaurant space with Bombay Brasserie, Serafina and Yuatcha. But the quality of the food makes up for much of the High price. Though the quantity served can be improved as Chili's serve a more generous portion of some of the same items that are served here at the same price more or less. But it is a good place to sip on your cold beer and have some great appetizers especially skewers, fries or maybe chicken wings and watch a good cricket, football or maybe some tennis on the screen. Coming to what we ordered :-

1. Coca-Cola Non Diet - ₹110
2. Lemon Cooler - ₹200 (wanted a mixture of sweet and salty taste but the end product was absolutely too sweet. Could have been better)
3. Kingfisher Draught Beer 500ml Mug - ₹385
4. Two Face Chicken Skewers - ₹375 Good tasty skewers with a kick of mustard sauce. One of the best I have tried here in India. Ofcourse the best skewers I had was in Bangkok but no complaints on this one
5. Belfast Glazed Chicken Wings (Barb-q Sauce) ₹395 Perfectly glazed hot juicy chicken Wings. Tasted good but had better bbq chicken wings at other places. Like Chili's.
6. Original Chicken Spaghetti - ₹425 Yummy Spaghetti served with hot garlic bread slices. Definitely one of the better dishes from the entire order
7. Portofino Grilled Fish - ₹ 555 - The best dish of the day. Finely cooked Basa fish in amazing hot Portofino sauce. And special mention to the great potato mash served with the dish

Overall had a great time and though the food quality and quantity can be improved given the price point I would love to visit...

Recently read a review here, so I thought I’d leave my own. Been coming to Irish for the last 6 years for their Wednesday Karaokes with Faizan. I don’t come regularly, but I have been there at least 20 times in the past few years, so I’d say I’m pretty qualified to be writing this. It’s gonna be a long one, so bear with me.

The food is decent, the booze is a little on the expensive side. But where it really shines is the atmosphere and the host for Karaokes. Every time I’ve come here, I’ve felt at home. Faizan is not only a fantastic performer, but also a great host and is the reason why I come to Irish. He’s there most Wednesdays, making sure that the crowd is comfortable and has a good time. He’s not biased, as someone here said. Testament to that is the fact that I often have to wait for a while to get a second song in after I’ve sung my first: he gives a fair shot to everyone present there. He also lets us pre-book our songs via WhatsApp earlier on so we can have a smoother exp and he can space it out properly.

They get at least 50-60 song requests and he makes sure things go smoothly and everyone gets a fair chance at the mic. Technical glitches are common and to err is human, but I’ve never seen a better karaoke host, and I’ve been to many in the city and the country. I love karaokes, as you can already imagine.

I don’t make friends very easily, but Faizan has been so kind, sweet and humble that it’s impossible not to be friends with him. I understand people might have had bad experiences sometimes, but I’d like to take the time out and vouch for my friend: give it a shot. And I guarantee that he’ll guarantee you have a good time.

Tl;dr: place is good, the vibe is fantastic. And it’s mostly thanks to Faizan, KD and the entire team at Irish. Been a regular, will be going there often.

I have been there with my wife and one friend.place was ok but staff was not up to the mark .they doesnt bother to listen you.we were three so they were let us feel like we have done a sin that we are too less to enter in the bar ..we suppose to be a group pf 6 or 10. When i asked to guy who was standing in the entrance he denied to let us sit inside at 5pm moreover there were not much crowd .finally a big man came wearing a blazer so called their manager let us sit inside with a condition that we need to leave the place momentarily if six people claim for that seat .All of them are in a hurry they barely listen your order .everytime the beer taste was different in the pitcher and the last glass was too bitter to have it .in the end i ordered for fish n chips which was hell oily literally oil was dipping from it may be thats the way they cook it .food was just below average .in the begining when i ask for budwiser i have got a rude reply that we dont have because from the suppliers it is not coming and then he start giving me a hell big explanation that why i cant have budwiser in this bar may be he was thinking that i am too much interested in his knowledge of supply and demand .they need to change their staff or give them a complete training how to behave with customers. Kabhi kabhi toh essa lagta hai jaise serve karke aaj ehsaan kar doya bhaiyo ne .i have been to irish house in mumbai fort etc but never ever had this experience..irish house has a class which we really expect eveywhere .anyway i am giving 3stars just for the moment.if you are going there dont follow me you may have a good experience. I might be a wrong guest for them.
