The food was mediocre, but we felt completely scammed. The restaurant served numerous items to the children that we hadn't ordered. They employed a deceptive tactic of bringing all the dishes and asking individuals, especially children, if they wanted them. They didn't even provide a menu initially. As we were late for lunch and very hungry, they took advantage of the situation and overcharged us. For a group of 12 adults and 5 children, they charged a staggering 15,000 rupees. The next day, we ate at Kumar Mess and the bill was only 7,000 rupees.
Please be cautious when dining here. Carefully review your order and ensure they only serve what you've requested. Always ask for a menu first and clearly communicate your choices to the staff. Appoint one person to coordinate with the supplier or manager when placing your order. If you want to avoid these issues, I recommend avoiding this restaurant altogether.

Read moreI have been a frequent visitor to this restaurant since many years. The taste & quality of the food has consistently been great. If you want to treat your taste buds to the spicy madurai style non veg food, this is the ideal place.
Biriyanis-chicken/mutton, meat balls (kola urundai), mutton sukka, nandu gravy, nei meen fry, vanjram fry, chicken gravy are some of my favourites from their menu. I got to know that the food is prepared by the owners family. Not sure if this is true. But definitely it tastes homely.
This place is usually crowded over weekends. There could be some waiting time also. If you're focused only on the tasty food and don't mind those standing next to you waiting to take your seat then it shouldn't be a problem. Don't expect much of an ambience though they have a decent A/C hall which quite often is crowded.
This place is good for those with a huge appetite for spicy non veg food. If you're a veggie or that fussy chick who claims to be dieting, then this place is a no go for you.
They accept card payments. There is a paid parking at a nearby vacant spot which belongs to the Tallakulam perumal koil. You can park cars, vans and even buses...
Read moreI want to bring to notice for people who visit here, the food is really great. The food is pricey but that's subjective what's not acceptable is when u keep items on the table which will be billed with a surprise.
So we ordered non veg Thalli, for which we received rice and two vegetables kootu and then the person serving asked if we would like to get some fresh prawns gravy, which we thought was part of the Thalli. He also brought some fried fish asked for if we would like to have any of it again he did not mention that its a separate food from the Thalli end up ordering and paying 300 for that one piece of fish. He also brought mutton balls as if its part of the dish. When we didn't see chicken gravy or fish gravy which usually comes with the Thalli, we asked him for that. Its then he brought these which were part of the Thalli with no pieces in any of it.
All in all the experience of eating at Chandran Mess felt like we were betrayed. We wished that they don't sell their food like that on unsuspecting people. Their food is great and I'm sure people will review it good and will select themselves but this strategy is...
