Hotel Gowri Gangga - Pure Veg Restaurant — Restaurant in Madurai

Very rude guy sitting in the payment counter. I was visiting Madurai for the first time for my son’s tennis tournament. On 29Jan 2024 It was about 7 am and I went here to have my coffee.

The bill was 18 rupees. I went up to the payment counter and asked for UPI scan. He simply nodded and didn’t say a word. I asked again whether I can pay using UPI. He again didn’t say anything. Then I took my wallet looking for change. I paid rs 20 in cash. Curious I saw the note saying paytm accepted here I again asked why can’t I pay using paytm?

Then the guy said for 18 rupees and all there is no UPI payment. Only if you are billed more than 50 rupees UPI can be used.

I got curious again and asked shops are even accepting 1 rupee in digital payment. Then why not?

He said for just having one coffee you’re asking so many questions?

This statement made me furious, as if only when one is hungry for a meal should visit this place?

He made a scene!

A good smooth experience to start my day.. One of the early customer for the day at 6 30 AM and the food was ready and tis piping hot and fresh.. Had a plate of idly, 2 vada, Pongal and strong coffee to end with. Its an heavy breakfast.. Vada was crispy on outside and soft inside.. Tasty vada which had a repeat.. Idlies were not so soft but tasted yum with fresh coconut chutney and flavourful tiffin sambar. Pongal was very smooth and tasty and again a wow experience with coconut chutney. Coffee was strong as per my instruction and it was one of the best filter coffee I had in Madurai. Service was warm and price is affordable. Different taste for the usual Food varieties too, and many more new varieties lovable restaurant for its taste and service located at a Superior Location. Undoubtedly Madurai's most underrated and one of the best veg restaurant. Try their roti Paneer butter masala, chilly parotta, vegetable Sevai, chola Poori, Puttu, Pongal, Ghee Roast, Paneer masal Dosa. Day by day they are becoming even more close to my heart for the taste. Usually while opting for Takeaway they will give us a Poondu thenga podi which will taste top notch which won't be available in dine-in now it is also served for dining in that's must try ask for it.
