An Unexpected Gem in Lonavala - Best Misal Pav Ever!
Visited Lonavla for the first time on May 27, 2024, and though it was summer where I live, the weather here felt like the monsoon had already entered the chat. I was here with a friend for his admission to "The Great Eastern Institute Of Maritime Studies" when I decided to indulge in my love for Misal Pav.
Now, as a Gujju boy, I’ve had my fair share of Misal Pav, though it's always felt limited and lacking that authentic Marathi touch back in my city. So, when I stumbled upon this hotel through Google Maps, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but decided to give it a shot. And guess what? It was open!
I visited around 10:00 am, and not only was the eatery available, but the staff suggested something that blew my mind – non-veg Misal Pav! I had no idea that even existed! Naturally, I was intrigued, and I just knew it was going to be one of those days to remember. And oh boy, it truly was.
The ambiance of the hotel was warm and inviting, with a positive vibe that matched the friendly staff. The atmosphere felt like a cherry on top, and when the food arrived, it was hot and fresh. The staff even guided me on how to properly enjoy the Misal Pav to get the perfect taste, and not going to lie, it was hands down the best Misal Pav of my life. As someone who treasures great food, I felt like I’d struck gold!
To top it off, the staff were kind enough to let me charge my phone – an absolute lifesaver! Their hospitality made the experience even more special.
Lonavala is famous for its beautiful landscapes and breathtaking monsoon views, but for me, what truly calls me back is that unforgettable Misal Pav. I’m officially obsessed, and I can’t wait to return...
Read moreBored with all the staid food options in Lonavala, my parents and I were looking for some local flavor. I am glad we chanced upon Marathi Zatka. The high ratings are not just hype, folks! The food is really that good. I am no expert on Maharashtrian cuisine, but the food served here is definitely lip-smackingly great. We ordered their Special Chicken Misal, Veg Thali, and Chicken Thali, and everything was really good. I am not even a fan of Misal! My mom fell in love with the sprouts sabzi in the veg thali. The owner was so friendly and helped us order given our obvious lack of familiarity with the menu. He also suggested these delicious rawa and coconut laddoos as dessert. My mouth is watering again at the thought of those glorious laddoos. Unfortunately, this was our last meal in the city or we would have headed back there again. The only minor negative was that they didn't have any Solkadhi that day, which was needed after the heavy meal. The Chaas they served wasn't that great (or maybe we are just used to better stuff in Punjab). And, of course, the decor (with Warli paintings all over) adds to the experience. I would recommend all the tourists to atleast try this dish once on your arrival in lonavala. As the mouth watering flavour and Aroma of such a Indian delicacy shall never be available elsewhere

The restaurant serves only chapati, bhakri and pav as a part of Maharashtrian cuisine.
One of my favourite and must try item is SOLE KADI. Blend of coconut milk with kokum .
