Mumbai Masalaa — Restaurant in Maharashtra

We were out on small weekend trip and during lunch were hungry… we were searching around and seeing the board and finding to park decided to try our luck.. could not find directions on entering cause upon asking were told that restaurant was on 1st floor in the back of the main building.. 1st task completed .proper lift we went to 1st floor . The restaurant was empty 1 waiter and 1 captain waiting for the crowd.we got self seated.. i asked for a menu and upon discussing and taking suggestions from the captain decided on few dishes… suddenly there was buzz and more tables started arriving …and within few min the whole space was lively with 7/8 full size tables around. I had asked for 1 alu pratha made to order for a 1 yr kid as she was hungry.i asked for fresh juices not available..no fresh lemon juice even after printed on menu… no soft drinks, my temper started building up so i asked the captain whats available so i can decide accordingly, he said Chinese and indian accept continental or Mexican.. well who cares about it anyway..right..i asked starters masala poppadum and paneer chilli fry.. as the family went for freshen-up ..prompt and very very quick service happened and we received the starters on table as my team was coming up i asked the captain nissar to hold on the main course for 10 minutes and his reply roti toh lag gaya hai.. i was at the height of my anger… cause they just served the starters and suddenly even the main course was ready.. did he expect to serve me starter and main course altogether.. after giving a piece of mind he was back on track. I normally dont loose my temper as myself have started my career as waiter in indian restaurant in usa and for more then 10 yrs in service i know my pros and cons. Well hence i have deducted 1 star from my review.. rest the main chef is from nepal and he cooked some very good tasty food. I got 3 tandoori butter rotis soft and moist. 1 Tandoori butter nan to go with my paneer toofani recommended by captain nissar and dal tadka, the toofani came in a bowl of cabbage leaves on sizzler plate. The paneer in chilly as well as toofani was super moist and fresh. Toofani was creamy similarly like paneer tikka masala but on sizzler plate instead of kdhai bowl. Veg fried rice was good and regular taste. I dont know why do all big restaurants use red sela rice for chindian preparations. Fine and to finish it we got 2 sizzler brownies with vanillla icecream. In all a very good experience with taste .. looking forward for a next visit when in lonavala…...

We we’re waiting since long coz we were a large group. However we could not get a big table. So we sat in smaller groups in diff tables. That could be an issue if you go there in large groups. Ensure if it’s in rush hour or something if there is pre booking possible for all to sit together. Now since we sat on diff tables the orders came also accordingly. The service was late. The food was good. It could also be since we were so hungry that could be the reason for us not finding much errors with food. The food was alright. We had ordered Jain food. There was Indian and sizzler’s among the items we had ordered. We liked it quite a lot. The starters consisted of Paneer dragon, veg 65 and cheese corn ball. Here we found veg 65 the best. It was really good. One can definitely order that . Among other options in jain food we had ordered the cottage cheese and chilli paneer sizzler . We found the paneer chilli sizzler more better however if you are a large group you can give a shot to both and make a choice. We were not able to get their today’s special Italian sizzler since they said it’s preparation time will be 1 hour. And then later said it won’t be possible only to make it. The sabji roti was also good for the Indian food . We had masala papad in siders it was not that. We had ordered the fried option not roasted one however it was not fried properly. The paneer sabji was good. We ordered a second serving of it. Could not add the pictures of food since we were hungry for so long and did not get a moment for a click. Can go to this place for jain food. However it will not be quick depending on the rush. But the...

If only we had an option to give a -ve star, then -5 stars is the best rating... I was impressed about it being a fine dining restaurant that too On Old Mum-Pune highway, and the name sounded good too

Observations

1. People kind of seem uninterested in any customers
2. Before ordering I confirmed about mushrooms used, and they informed they use fresh button mushrooms. When the dish arrived the mushrooms were forund to be black in color. Very high chances that if button mushroom changes from white to nearly brown/black color, they have become stale and can cause food poisoning. Even after we informed the restaurant staff, instead of accepting the issue, they said its fresh and did not accept about serving stale food
3. Tandoori Roti - Even after confirmation from staff that they use on Whole wheat, the roti seemd to be a mix of Wheat & Maida
4. Missi Roti - This one was disaster. I felt and as per my observation it was yellow color mised in their normal Tandoori roti dough and then put in tandoor and served as Missi Roti

Because of the overall food we had food poisoning and had to spend 3 times the amount of bill at restaurant for medicines and doctor, had to miss my work added to the impavt it had on our health

Pathetic choice to even have entered this fine...
