Goldfinch Boutique Hotel located in MIDC Area of Andheri East, Mahakali is home to Banjara Restaurant and G77 Club and Kitchen. The hotel also has a banquet and conference hall facilities. Was in the area on a Sunday, when I decided to pay a visit to this place. Banjara is located on Ground Level of the hotel. It primarily serves North Indian cuisine.
Banjara provides option of Buffet or A-La-Carte. Buffet prices are really attractive, where you get Lunch for 799+taxes and Dinner for 899+taxes, which includes soup, salad, starters, live counter, main course and dessert. They also have a Sunday Brunch package, details of which can be checked with the restaurant. We had the dinner buffet and tried the below mentioned items -
We started with Soup - Cream of Spinach, was a decent preparation, good flavours but personally felt it to be on the salty side. Did recommend the chef to keep the salt proportion a little less so that in case someone likes it salty can definitely add more to the preparation. However the texture was thick and rich.
Next we tried a lot of starters, was actually excited to try them more than the main course. We started with Veg Dimsums which were mini coin sized steamed dumplings. Tried it along with pepper and mustard dips. Tasted nice. Next we tried the Multani Seekh Kebab, nice preparation, good in flavour. The kebab was grilled well and tasted nice along with mint chutney.
Next we tried the Paneer Ajwaini Tikka another starter from the grill. Ajwain flavour was prominent and the cottage cheese cubes were soft. An evergreen dish not to be missed by those who don't prefer to experiment. We also had the Babycorn Mushroom Schezwan, marination with schezwan sauce was good which means full of flavours, however Babycorn Mushroom was on the harder side.
To go with the food, we called for few mocktails, which were not a part of the dinner buffet - we tried the Virgin Colada, Safe Sex on Beach and Blueberry Lemonade. The best of all was Virgin Colada, leaves a really refreshing feel with every sip that you have. I personally love Pina Coladas and this one was genuinely one of the better ones tried elsewhere. Blueberry Lemonade - had lemon wedges, lemonade and soda along with blueberry syrup, felt too much lime and soda made the mocktail a little sour. Safe Sex on Beach was a decent mix of Orange, Cranberry and Peach Syrup, decent mix.
Live Counter section had Pani Puri and Hakka Noodles. Tried both the dishes just before the main course, both were decent in taste not extra-ordinary. Moving to the mains, from the dinner buffet, they were a lot of options in vegetables - however we only tried Paneer Kadhai and Dum Subz Handi. Good in taste, but at times the vegetables may feel a little overcooked. Dal Pancharatan was really good in taste, something which is a must try and must have. I also personally tried the Pesto Penne Pasta from the buffet, something which shouldn't have been a part of the buffet but only for Live Counters since the Pasta gets chewy. Last but not the least we also tried the Veg Biryani with raita! Tasted really nice, rich in flavours with long grain aromatic rice.
Finally for desserts, you are spoilt for choice as there were eight different varieties from Indian sweets to cakes to mousse. I tried the Rasgulla, Moong Dal Halwa, Chocolate Gateaux, Red Velvet Brownie, Coconut Kala Jamun and Mango Mousse. Of all, I liked the Rasgulla and Moong Dal Halwa the most followed by Coconut Kala Jamun. They also had ice-cream options and I asked for a scoop of Butter Scotch Ice-cream to end my meal. Good!
All in all, a reasonable experience considering the value and worth on offer for this dinner buffet. Few things tasted really nice, few things were average which needed some work. In terms of service, it was top notch right from the Chef to the Restaurant Manager to the Server. Worth a try in case you are looking to host get together or a party in Andheri...
Read moreStarters- We had some Pani puris first, which was a perfect beginning and very refreshing. Then one by one we tried everything from the menu. We also had the Veg Burnt Garlic Clear soup and I have to tell you, it was the best clear soup I had till date, so full marks for it to the chef. Veg Sui Mai- These are nothing but veggie filled momos which was not so good as I dislike them but it can be eaten with their black pepper sauce. Crispy Veg- This is your regular veg cripsy which had more of a sweet taste and could be more crispy for better experience. Paneer Angara Tikka- Paneer was of really good quality and pretty soft, so this dish can be in your option list to choose from as the flavors were really good. Til Methi Seekh- These were cute little fenugreek bitings dipped in batter and was pretty good with green chutney. Veg Cutlet- These were also cute little button like shapes which were filled with cheese. They were pretty soft to eat but had a bland taste. Kaju Katli- Unlike your sweet named kaju katli, this was actually a deep fried dish which had a filling of cashew nuts and cummin seeds, having a texture and taste like the maharashtrian dish called Kothimbir vadi. So this was good too. The green chutney was well made to go with these starters. I am not a mustard sauce fan and hence pretty much avoided it. The pepper sauce also went well with momos which gave it that missing kick.
Drinks- Pina Colada- I am not a Pina Colada person, but this was the best version I have ever tried. So I am glad I had it.
Main Course- The main course consisted of various vegetables, Dal Makhani and Tawa Pulao rice with the options of butter rotis and naans. Exotic chilli basil sauce - This dish had a very chinese feel to it and was pretty good flavour wise. Kadhai Veg- This was a master stroke of the evening main course wise. It was made in white gravy but had a very Italian feel to eat, rich in cream and exotic vegetables, making it a must try. Chana Tendli and Aloo Gatke- These 2 options were like typically made like what mothers use to make and has a very homely feeling to it. Palak Paneer- The texture of the palak paneer was really smooth and blended will but it lacked the flavours of the tomato, onion and garlic gravy as it majorly had only spinach flavour. Dal Makhani- The favourite dal of many is also served here to go with your naans and rotis and was good in taste. To get that richness in flavour, tell the staff to make it extra buttery. Tawa Pulao- Tawa Pulao was also very well cooked and the flavours blended well with the basmati rice filled with veggies and dry fruits. So a good option to end the main course. The live counter where Pulao and Pani puris are made also has noodles if you are not a rice fan.
After eating everything from the main course, we headed towards desserts to mark an end to our large buffet meal. Indian Desserts- Zauq-e-shahi - These were mini gulab jamuns infused in milk maid or rabdi and tasted delicious. Milk barfi - This was another Indian dessert which was pretty good in taste but a little hard than usual. There was also Moong Dal Halwa and Rasgullas in Indian dessert section but I gave it a miss. Foreign desserts- Kiwi Mousse - This was a bit of a surprise, rather than sweet, it has a pretty tangy taste, that of a kiwi syrup. I couldn't have more than 3 spoons of this mousse. Truffle Pastry - This was the best among all. Don't give it a miss! Blueberry and strawberry pastry- Blueberry pastry had a very good texture and taste but strawberry pastry had a little hard bread. They also serve various national and international salads along with fruits but I didn't try it. Apart from buffet, they also have A le Carte option with wide range to...

They have a big boat at the middle of dining place.
Cheers to the Lovely FRUIT PUNCH. The best part was it had a nice innovation and very different from the same drink which i have everytime. It carrries fresh fruit juices tang and no artificial fruit syrups were used. That just gave him a natural orange colour and not pink.
Blue Lagoon being a soft drink just makes you to toss it and enjoy it's enriching and soothing mild soda and fresh taste.
Crunchy zigzag fried, chopped evenly and fine, mixed with honey, chilli and garnished with sesame seeds. No other than HONEY CHILLI POTATOES.
Veg dim sum. Soft white thin layered momo with finely diced cauliflower. And steamed best and evenly cooked.
Paneer tikka has one main thing that it relies on the freshness and softness of cottage cheese. Do the Paneer rocked so well and made the tikka enjoyable.
IT was very difficult to shift from appetizer to main course which shows it's lovely taste and attracting looks. Still we went to the shahi main course with almost 10 main course items 6 veg and 4 non veg.
They have Sunday brunch good theme of choices and you enjoy to see huge Footfalls.
Dal makhani.
Dal carrying high amount of fresh Makhan and that makes it so tasty and the aroma of it feels like you are in it's origin hometown.
Paneer lababdar.
MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THIS MAINS. I so love this main course because of it's greavy.
Boiled broccoli and cauliflower
Tasty white greavy with broccoli and cauliflower. A protein filled bowl you can get from this dish.
They had papad fried masala roti bites and pickles were placed on a fine small bridge.
I hope you are full now. If yes i am sorry but you have still the dessert time.
Atleast 8 items you have in desserts to taste and have them. Cham cham(fav), Dudhi ka halwa, oreo cheese cake, orange pastry, kiwi cake, brownie (contains egg), gulab jamun (fav), fruits, mawa peda, blueberry pastry in glass of shots.
I hope after this your tummy will definitely shout yummy and your happiness will remember your mummy 😂. Yes i so loved this place and definitely would go again with my family.
Do visit the banjara and enjoy the buffet. It's worth going if you are a big foodie.😉❤️
